Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been known pollutants, which are ubiquitous in various matrix, even in some food products and beverages like fruit juices. It is of great importance to develop efficient and simple method to detect them in such matrix. In this work, an effective magnetic composite integrating the advantages of the magnism of CoFeO, hydrophilicity and multisites of TiC and high adsorption properties of polyaniline (CoFeO@TiC@PANI) was designed and synthesized. CoFeO@TiC@PANI-based magnetic solid-phase extraction coupled with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was established for determination of nine PCBs in fruit juices. The developed method achieved low detection limits of 0.4-0.8 ng L. The established method was validated with three beverages and achieved good spiked recoveries ranging from 77.2 % to 104.7 %. These findings exhibited that the established method was very simple, efficient, and credible for the analysis of PCBs in food, environmental, and other fields.

Organophosphate pesticides can cause long-term neurological damage to humans. There is an urgent need to develop a more sensitive and efficient method for detecting trace amounts of organophosphorus pesticides in orange juice, particularly in the presence of interfering substances. This study developed a dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE) method using amorphous UiO-66 (aUiO-66) as an adsorbent for the detection of four organophosphate pesticides (fenthion, profenofos, fensulfothion, and chlorpyrifos) in orange juice.

Purpose: Swedish adolescents' free and added sugars intake exceeds recommended levels. This poses potential health problems; however, little is known about dietary sources within the Swedish population. This study investigated dietary sources of sugars among Swedish adolescents, as well as timing and location of free sugars intake.

Ice wine is produced from concentrated grape juice obtained by the natural freezing and pressing of grapes. The high sugar content of this juice has an impact on fermentation. To investigate the impact of the initial sugar concentration on the fermentation of ice wine, the initial sugar concentration of Vidal ice grape juice was adjusted to 370, 450, 500 and 550 g/L by the addition of glucose.

Citrus juices represent a nutrient-dense beverage due to the remarkable balance in their bioactive compounds (vitamins, minerals, dietary fibers, and phytochemicals such as flavonoids and carotenoids). This review aims to examine the nutritional quality and the health benefits of citrus juice consumption linked to the world diversity of citrus fruits. This work provides heterogenous data found on the main citrus bioactive compounds, especially carotenoids and flavonoids, which are difficult to correlate to particular geographic areas.
