We report here a novel family of ylidic P-heteroarenes (P1-P6), structurally featuring unique phosphonium cyclopentadienylide (P-Cp)-fused π-skeletons and synthetically prepared via an unexpected one-pot [2+3]/[3+3] phospha-annulation reaction. While the facile and modular synthesis allows the fine-tuning of their optical absorptions and redox properties, single-crystallographic and theoretical analysis of these P-heteroarenes further reveal that the fusion of P-Cp moiety leads to substantial intramolecular charge-separated features with high ylidic character values of up to 84 %. Benefitted from such dipolar structures, these P-heteroarenes not only allows stepwise electrophilic substitution reaction for further structural π-expansions, but also exhibit excellent nonlinear optical (NLO) responses and optical limiting (OL) performances comparable to or exceed those of C. As a model compound, the persistent radical-anion salt of P5a was also prepared through chemical reduction, thus offering valuable insights into the electronic structures of reduced P-ylidic species. Our work not only established a highly efficient synthetic method toward new P-heteroarenes, but also provide fundamental understanding of those fused-ring ylidic P-heterocycles with promising NLO/OL applications.

Nonlinear optics, a critical branch of modern optics, presents unique potential in the study of two-dimensional (2D) magnetic materials. These materials, characterized by their ultra-thin geometry, long-range magnetic order, and diverse electronic properties, serve as an exceptional platform for exploring nonlinear optical effects. Under strong light fields, 2D magnetic materials exhibit significant nonlinear optical responses, enabling advancements in novel optoelectronic devices.

As an emerging two-dimensional (2D) Group-VA material, bismuth selenide (BiSe) exhibits favorable electrical and optical properties. Here, three distinct morphologies of BiSe were obtained from bulk BiSe through electrochemical intercalation exfoliation. And the morphologies of these nanostructures can be tuned by adjusting solvent polarity during exfoliation.

Using the effective mass approximation and the finite difference method, we examined the linear, non-linear, and total optical absorption coefficients (OAC), as well as the relative refractive index coefficients (RIC) variations for an off-center shallow donor impurity in a 2D-curved electronic nanostructure subjected to external electric and magnetic fields. Our results reveal that the peak positions of the OAC and RIC are susceptible to the geometrical angles, the impurity position, and the strength of the applied electric and magnetic fields. In particular, the positions of the OAC and RIC peaks can be shifted towards blue or red by adjusting the geometric angle.

We introduce a novel material for integrated photonics and investigate aluminum gallium nitride (AlGaN) on aluminum nitride (AlN) templates as a platform for developing reconfigurable and on-chip nonlinear optical devices. AlGaN combines compatibility with standard photonic fabrication technologies and high electro-optic modulation capabilities with low loss over a broad spectral range, from UVC to long-wave infrared, making it a viable material for complex photonic applications. In this work, we design and grow AlGaN/AlN heterostructures and integrate several photonic components.

This research used a modified and extended auxiliary mapping method to examine the optical soliton solutions of the truncated time M-fractional paraxial wave equation. We employed the truncated time M-fractional derivative to eliminate the fractional order in the governing model. The few optical wave examples of the paraxial wave condition can assume an insignificant part in depicting the elements of optical soliton arrangements in optics and photonics for the investigation of different actual cycles, including the engendering of light through optical frameworks like focal points, mirrors, and fiber optics.
