Exploring the connections between the ion substitution of a material, its crystal structure, and its performance in applications is a regular task in synthetic chemistry. However, there still remain major challenges in the substitution of polyanionic groups for single ions. Herein, a strategy of channel species substitution of single anions by polyanionic groups in a zeotype rigid framework to design a new deep-ultraviolet nonlinear zincophosphate, {[LiNa(SiF)]Cs}[(ZnPO)], and tune physicochemical properties was proposed.

Compounds having hexagonal tungsten oxides (HTO) topology are of intense research interests owing to their potential functional properties, such as nonlinear optical (NLO) performances. However, most of the reported HTO-type compounds exhibit narrow optical bandgaps because of the d-d electronic transition of compositional d transition metals and lone pair electrons effect of Se/Te, which hinder their applications in the high-energy field, such as deep-ultraviolet (deep-UV) region. In this work, a new fluorophosphate, (NH)[ScF(PO)](POF) exhibiting HTO-topological structures is reported.

In recent years, hydroxyborates with excellent properties have attracted much attention. Through dedicated efforts, three new hydroxyborates-KBO(OH), CsBO(OH), and CsBO(OH)-have been successfully synthesized in a closed system. The ultraviolet (UV) cut-off edges of both KBO(OH) and CsBO(OH) are below 200 nm, indicating their potential as candidates for deep-ultraviolet (DUV) materials.

The development of dielectrics with atomic planes and van der Waals (vdW) interfaces is essential for enhancing the performance of 2D devices. However, vdW dielectrics often have smaller bandgaps compared to traditional 3D dielectrics, limiting their options. This study introduces AZBX (AZn₂BO₃X₂, where A = K or Rb, X = Cl or Br), a nonlinear deep-ultraviolet optical crystal, as a quasi-vdW layered dielectric ideal for 2D electronic devices.
