Introduction And Objective: Indication for mitral valve (MV) surgery in asymptomatic mitral regurgitation (MR) patients with preserved ejection fraction (EF) remains unclear. This study aims to identify risk factors of adverse clinical outcomes in asymptomatic MR patients with preserved EF for early indication of MV surgery.
Methods: 3 databases were systematically searched to include studies with asymptomatic MR patients with preserved EF. Risk factors of adverse clinical outcomes (composite outcome of MACE and MV surgery indication), mortality, and left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) are pooled with a meta-analysis of random effect model.
Results: A total of 39 observational studies with 9135 asymptomatic moderate to severe MR patients are included. We identified 21 statistically significant risk factors for adverse outcomes. Increased natriuretic peptide, presence of atrial fibrillation, LV GLS > 20%, LVEDD > 35 mm, LVESD > 22 mm, and LAVI > 55 ml/mm, ERO > 55mm, and regurgitation volume > 60 ml (HR 2.21, 2.07, 4.23, 2.98, 4.05, 1.84, 4.02, 3.30, respectively; p-value < 0.05; I 0-87%) are associated with greater risk of adverse clinical outcome. Risk factors associated with postoperative LVD are the increase of LVEDD, LVESD, and RVSP. Risk factors associated with mortality are increasing STS score and LV GLS.
Conclusion: Several clinical parameters and risk factors can be used to stratify asymptomatic MR patients with preserved ejection fraction who could benefit from early indication for MV surgery.

Background: Aircraft noise is a growing concern for communities living near airports.
Objectives: This study aimed to explore the impact of aircraft noise on heart structure and function.
Methods: Nighttime aircraft noise levels (L) and weighted 24-hour day-evening-night aircraft noise levels (L) were provided by the UK Civil Aviation Authority for 2011.

Background: Randomized clinical trials have shown that semaglutide is associated with a clinically relevant reduction in body weight and a lower risk of adverse cardiovascular events in those who are overweight or obese with a history of cardiovascular disease but no diabetes. The objective of this study was to assess the cost-effectiveness of semaglutide for this indication.
Methods: A decision analytic Markov model was used to compare the lifetime benefits and costs of semaglutide 2.

The study was designed to appraise the effects of early antibiotic administration on reproductive tract infections and fetal membrane cell scorching in instances of premature rupture of membranes (PROM). A total of 107 pregnant women diagnosed with PROM between July 2020 and June 2022 were randomly assigned to two groups: the Intervention (n=54), where ampicillin were administered within 24 hours of PROM onset, and the control group (n=53), where ampicillin were given 24-48 hours after PROM. Maternal and neonatal outcomes, incidence of reproductive tract infections, and fetal membrane cell scorching indicators (Caspase-1, Caspase -3, Caspase-9 and IL-β) were compared.

Introduction: The development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common and significant complication, contributing to morbidity after liver transplantation (LT). Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is common in the overall population, and relevant reinfection after LT may occur. CMV-associated kidney damage has been discussed, but the clinical significance on CKD development after LT remains unclear.

Objectives: SARS-CoV-2 infection is a known risk factor for adverse health outcomes in pregnancy, affecting both maternal and neonatal health. Mounting evidence suggests that even a single dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine protects against severe SARS-CoV-2 infection and is safe for both pregnant persons and neonates. Southern Brazil was heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the protective effects of the vaccine on maternal and neonatal health are not well described.
