This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility and combination of a beta-blocker, labetalol (LAB) and meropenem (MEM) on Carbapenem-resistant (CR) A. baumannii clinical isolates. A total of 43 CR- A. baumannii were isolated of which 37 (86.6 %) and 28 (65 %) exhibited MDR and XDR phenotypes, respectively. Colistin and doxycycline still retain their activities in 93.1 % and 72.1 % of the isolates, respectively. Combining MEM with LAB at 0.25 mg /mL, decreased MIC values in 91.4 % (32/35) however, at 0.5 mg /mL, it decreased MIC value and restored susceptibility to MEM in 100 % and 91.4 % of the tested isolates, respectively. A novel transferable plasmid pAcbGIM3 harboring aph-3', blabla and bla and eight mobile genetic elements were successfully isolated from a pan-drug resistant (PDR) isolate. In conclusion, LAB-MEM is a promising combination and should be clinically examined. This is the first report of a transmissible plasmid harboring bla gene in Egypt.

Background: Colistin resistance significantly constrains available treatment options and results in the emergence of pandrug-resistant (PDR) strains. Treating PDR infections is a major public health issue. A promising solution lies in using colistin-based combinations.

Background: The balance between antioxidants and pro-oxidants plays a significant role in the context of oxidative stress, influenced by both physiological and non-physiological factors.
Objectives: In this study, 18 prescribed antibiotics (including doxycycline hydrochloride, tigecycline, rifampicin, tebipenem, cefuroxime, cefixime, potassium clavulanate, colistin, ampicillin, amoxicillin, amikacin, nalidixic acid, azithromycin, pipemidic acid trihydrate, pivmecillinam, aztreonam, fosfomycin sodium, and ciprofloxacin) were subjected to simultaneous determination of antioxidant and pro-oxidant potential to assess if pro-oxidant activity is a dominant co-mechanism of antibacterial activity or if any antibiotic exhibits a balanced effect.
Methods: This study presents a recently developed approach for the simultaneous assessment of antioxidant and pro-oxidant potential on a single microplate in situ, applied to prescribed antibiotics.

Background: Antimicrobial resistance in avian pathogenic (APEC) represents a major concern in the avian industry worldwide and limited studies have investigated Colistin resistance among APEC in Algeria.
Aims: Investigate antibiotic resistance, in particular, Colistin, and mediated-Colistin resistance () genes, as well as the virulence genes in APEC.
Methods: One hundred were isolated from poultry suspected of colibacillosis.
