ConspectusThe advancement of synthetic methodologies is fundamentally driven by a deeper understanding of the structure-reactivity relationships of reactive key intermediates. Carbyne anions are compounds featuring a monovalent anionic carbon possessing four nonbonding valence electrons, which were historically confined to theoretical constructs or observed solely within the environment of gas-phase studies. These species possess potential for applications across diverse domains of synthetic chemistry and ancillary fields.

Treatment of cancer using nanoparticles made of inorganic and metallic compounds has been increasingly used, owing to their novel intrinsic physical properties and their potential to interact with specific cellular sites, thereby significantly reducing severe secondary effects. In this study, we report a facile strategy for synthesis of folate capped MnO nanoparticles (FA-MnO NPs) with high colloidal stability in aqueous media using a hydrothermal method for potential application in photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer. The capping of FA to MnO NPs was confirmed using various spectroscopic techniques.
