After three years of continuous Medicaid coverage as permitted by COVID-19-related waivers, in 2023 counties had to begin redeterminations of eligibility, "unwinding" this continuous coverage. As unwinding and eligibility determination continues, Medicaid expansion has begun, and county public health leaders are navigating uncertain but exciting waters. Lisa Macon Harrison, MPH, of Granville Vance Public Health, and Joshua Swift, MPH, of Forsyth County Department of Public Health, share their experiences, concerns, and hopes for the future.

Background: This study analyzed the epidemiological trends of three significant respiratory infectious diseases in Taiwan: invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD), influenza with severe complications, and tuberculosis during post-COVID-19 pandemic period.
Methods: We utilized data from Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website and classified the COVID-19 prevention policies into three phases for the year 2021, 2022, and 2023. We then performed a statistical analysis of reported case numbers for the three respiratory diseases during the 3-year period using the Kruskal-Wallis test, followed by joinpoint regression model for the identification of seasonal distribution and variation.

Background And Aim: The relationship between socio-economic inequalities (SEIs) and early life malnutrition with muscle health remains unclear. This study aims to examine the effects of SEIs and early life exposure to famine on relative hand grip strength (rHGS).
Methods And Results: We analyzed data of 37,008 individuals from the China National Health Survey.

Smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) patients are a heterogeneous group with variable prognosis. A subset of SMM patients have a higher risk of progressing to multiple myeloma (MM) within 2 years. The definition of high-risk patients is not consistent among different risk models, and the combination of various biomarkers and new technologies improves the predictive performance of risk models.

Minimal residual disease (MRD), a crucial biomarker for assessing efficacy and predicting recurrence, refers to residual tumor cells remaining in the body of patients with hematological malignancies who achieved complete remission after treatment. This study aimed to conduct a retrospective analysis of the clinical diagnosis, treatment, and MRD monitoring of a pediatric patient with multiple acute B-lymphocytic leukemia relapses, alongside a review of relevant literature. In this case, Ig rearrangement based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) was more accurate in assessing the MRD level, compared with the traditional method of MRD detection, indicating the risk of earlier relapse and guided interventions in time.
