Luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) exhibit promising applications as chemical sensors, especially for organic-linker-based LMOFs due to their unlimited structures and pre- and postfunctionality. However, it is still a challenge to introduce specific functional groups into LMOFs as reaction sites for sensing. Herein, a new luminescent zirconium-based metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF), HIAM-4009L, is reported with underlying net. By integrating the hydroquinone moiety into the skeleton of the organic linker via the reaction between -diamine and aldehydes, nanosized HIAM-4009L exhibits reversible emission responses toward hypochlorous acid (HClO) and l-ascorbic acid (vitamin C, Vc) due to the switchable hydroquinone/quinone reaction. This nano-MOF can be used as a reaction-based chemical sensor for HClO and Vc detection with high selectivity and sensitivity. The present work not only provides nanosized MOFs for the reversible detection of HClO and Vc but also sheds light on the rational design of LMOFs with specific functional groups using an -diamine- and aldehyde-based reaction.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of micro-computed tomography(Micro-CT) in removing calcium hydroxide from posterior curved root canals.
Methods: Twenty molar teeth (48 root canals) extracted at the Department of General Dentistry, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital between December 2023 and February 2024 were collected. After preparing by Ni-TI instruments M3 according to standard root canal treatment procedures, calcium hydroxide was injected into the root canals.

Background: This randomized clinical trial aimed to evaluate the effect of intracanal cryotherapy with 2-4 °C normal saline irrigation on post-operative pain after single-visit non-surgical root canal retreatment.
Methods: Forty-six single-rooted, single-canal teeth requiring non-surgical root canal retreatment were randomly assigned to two groups (n = 23): a cryotherapy group and a control group. All the treatments were completed during a single visit.

It has been demonstrated that chlorine predominately reacts with phenolic compounds through an electrophilic aromatic substitution, yielding chlorinated phenols. Previous studies showed that copper oxide (CuO), a water pipe corrosion product, can catalytically enhance the reactivity of chlorine and its disproportionation. In this study, kinetics and mechanisms for the reactions of chlorine with phenolic compounds in the presence of CuO were investigated.

A new ratiometric and colorimetric fluorescent probe HTD was synthesized based on the reaction of 4-aminophenyl boronic acid pinacol ester and 4-(3-formyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) benzonitrile. The probe exhibited a unique fluorescence response to hypochlorous acid and had good anti-interference performance in the presence of other interference. When HTD met the NaClO, the light orange fluorescence was changed to green with the blue-shifted emission wavelength from 550 to 500 nm.

Disinfectants can kill pathogenic microorganisms, effectively block the spread of infectious diseases, and are widely used during epidemics. However, a little has been studied about the environmental hazards caused by the heavy use of disinfectants.
