Objectives: To assess nailfold video capillaroscopic (NVC) abnormalities and their association with clinical features, myositis-specific autoantibodies (MSA), and myositis-associated antibodies (MAA) in a large multi-ethnic cohort of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM).

Methods: We recruited 155 IIM patients from three centres in Mexico, Spain, and the USA. We evaluated the clinical and laboratory features of the patients and performed semiquantitative and quantitative analyses of the NVC.

Background: Although pulmonary vascular bed has been the main subject of research for many years in pulmonary hypertension (PH), interest has recently started to divert towards the possibility of a co-existing peripheral microangiopathy. The aim of the current study was to investigate the presence of nailfold video-capillaroscopic (NVC) structural changes in patients with precapillary PH and to identify possible associations of NVC measurements with markers of disease severity.

Methods: Α prospective case-control study was performed in 28 consecutive patients with precapillary PH [14 with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) and 14 with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH)] and 30 healthy controls.

Low vitamin D serum concentrations have been reported in several autoimmune conditions. The study's aim was to explore such a relationship in a large multinational population of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and to pursue possible clinical and laboratory correlates with vitamin D concentrations. 327 sera samples of European patients with SSc and 141 samples of compatible healthy controls were studied for vitamin D concentrations using the commercial kit LIAISON 25-OH vitamin D assay (Diasorin).

Objective: To assess red blood cell velocity in finger nail-fold capillaries using video capillaroscopy in patients with SSc and other collagen diseases.

Methods: This study included 127 patients with SSc as well as patients with SLE (n = 33), DM/PM (n = 21), RA (n = 13) and APS (n = 12), and 20 healthy subjects. Red blood cell velocity was evaluated using frame-to-frame determination of the position of capillary plasma gaps.
