Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals have long been considered a promising source of time-correlated and entangled photons via the cascaded emission of multiexcitonic states. The spectroscopy of such cascaded emission, however, is hindered by efficient nonradiative Auger-Meitner decay, rendering multiexcitonic states nonemissive. Here we present room-temperature heralded spectroscopy of three-photon cascades from triexcitons in giant CsPbBr nanocrystals. We show that this system exhibits second- and third-order correlation function values, g(0) and g(0,0), close to unity, identifying very weak binding of both biexcitons and triexcitons. Combining fluorescence lifetime analysis, photon statistics, and spectroscopy, we can readily identify emission from higher multiexcitonic states. We use this to verify emission from a single emitter despite high emission quantum yields of multiply excited states and comparable emission lifetimes of singly and multiply excited states. Finally, we present potential pathways toward control of the photon number statistics of multiexcitonic emission cascades.

Currently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with tunability and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with high stability are promising nanomaterials for electrochemiluminescence (ECL), while Ru-based metal covalent organic frameworks (Ru-MCOFs) have rarely been reported. Herein, an ECL immunosensor based on a strong ECL-emitting Ru-MCOF was proposed for the sensitive detection of the cardiac troponin-I (cTnI). Imine-linked Ru-MCOF was prepared as an ECL emitter via solvothermal method using tris(4,4' -diamino-2,2' -bipyridine)ruthenium(II) (Ru(dbpy)32+) as a precursor.

The so-called "amyloid cascade hypothesis" provides an elegant explanation of Alzheimer's disease (AD), has motivated the amyloid-lowering therapeutic strategy, and led to the elaboration of a rich experimental and conceptual toolkit for the field to progress. But it might be incorrect. The scientific evidence base supporting the efficacy and safety of current anti-amyloid antibody treatments in AD is weak.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an ever-growing hazard for health and environment due to their increased emissions and accumulation in the air. Quantum cascade laser-based infrared (QCL-IR) sensors hold significant promise for gas monitoring, thanks to their compact, rugged design, high laser intensity, and high molecule-specific detection capabilities within the mid-infrared spectrum's fingerprint region. In this work, tunable external cavity QCLs were complemented by an innovative germanium-on-silicon integrated optics waveguide sensing platform with integrated microlenses for efficient backside optical interfacing for the tunable laser spectrometer.
