The Attendance, Wellness, and Engagement (AWE) Model of Workplace Satisfaction is an innovative approach to promoting a sustainable, healthy, and engaged workforce. Implemented at Louis Brier Home and Hospital, the AWE Model encapsulates a people strategy aimed at nurturing a supportive and fulfilling work environment. Attendance promotion is accomplished by acknowledging absences while providing a comprehensive support system to address personal challenges faced by healthcare workers. The wellness component is underscored by increasing resource utilization, offering on-site health services, and cultivating social groups to enhance holistic well-being. Additionally, engagement is characterized by staff recognition rituals, community-building initiatives, and celebratory events. Importantly, this article presents a compelling position that the AWE Model creates a positive impact on reducing absenteeism, enhancing staff satisfaction, and transforming organizational culture. As health leaders grapple with workforce challenges, the AWE Model serves as a pragmatic framework to cultivate environments where employees regularly attend work healthy and engaged.

Developing chiral plasmonic nanostructures represents a significant scientific challenge due to their multidisciplinary potential. Observations have revealed that the dichroic behavior of metal plasmons changes when chiral molecules are present in the system, offering promising applications in various fields such as nano-optics, asymmetric catalysis, polarization-sensitive photochemistry and molecular detection. In this study, we explored the synthesis of plasmonic gold nanoparticles and the role of cysteine in their chiroplasmonic properties.

The Genetic Odyssey of Axolotl Regeneration: Insights and Innovations.

Int J Dev Biol

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Evolution & Marine Biodiversity (Ministry of Education) and Institute of Evolution and Marine Biodiversity, Ocean University of China, Qingdao, China.

The axolotl, a legendary creature with the potential to regenerate complex body parts, is positioned as a powerful model organism due to its extraordinary regenerative capabilities. Axolotl can undergo successful regeneration of multiple structures, providing us with the opportunity to understand the factors that exhibit altered activity between regenerative and non-regenerative animals. This comprehensive review will explore the mysteries of axolotl regeneration, from the initial cellular triggers to the intricate signaling cascades that guide this complex process.

Introduction: Homology modeling is a widely used computational technique for predicting the three-dimensional (3D) structures of proteins based on known templates, evolutionary relationships to provide structural insights critical for understanding protein function, interactions, and potential therapeutic targets. However, existing tools often require significant expertise and computational resources, presenting a barrier for many researchers.

Methods: Prostruc is a Python-based homology modeling tool designed to simplify protein structure prediction through an intuitive, automated pipeline.

Cardiac remodeling encompasses structural alterations such as hypertrophy, fibrosis, and dilatation, alongside numerous cellular and molecular functional aberrations, constituting a pivotal process in the advancement of heart failure (HF). 4-Hydroxychalcone (4-HCH) is a class of naturally occurring compounds with variable phenolic structures, and has demonstrated the preventive efficacy in hyperaldosteronism, inflammation and renal injury. However, the role of 4-HCH in the regulation of cardiac remodeling remains uncertain.

Awe has been shown to promote well-being through various mechanisms (see Monroy & Keltner, 2023). In this research, we propose a novel perspective for the well-being benefits of awe: Awe fosters equanimity-a balanced state of mind toward all experiences of any valence-and we document how this works, namely, through temporal distancing. Across seven studies, using a combination of experiments, big data analytics, and intervention methods, we provide support for our hypotheses.
