Objectives: The advent of O-arm navigation optimized the oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) procedure, allowing the operator to simultaneously perform OLIF and percutaneous posterior pedicle screw implantation without patient position change, thus improving the fluency and accuracy of the OLIF procedure (called as OLIF360). Nevertheless, a consensus regarding its suitability for patients with severe spinal stenosis remains elusive. This study aims to investigate the clinical efficacy of OLIF360 and its imaging changes in severe lumbar spinal stenosis cases.

The role of aging and various surface preparation methods in the repair of nanohybrid composites.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Restorative Dentistry, Gazi University, Bişkek St. 1. St. Number: 8 Emek, Ankara, Turkey.

Background: Repairing composite resins is a less invasive alternative to complete restoration replacement. To achieve a successful bond between the existing and newly applied composite materials, various surface preparation methods, such as sandblasting and acid etching, have been explored. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of different surface treatments on the repair bond strength of a universal nanohybrid composite resin restorative material before and after thermal aging, by utilizing a micro-shear bond strength (µSBS) test.

Topographic Analysis of the Periorbital Region Including Orbicularis Oculi Muscle Based on Ultrasonography Interpretation.

J Cosmet Dermatol

January 2025

Division in Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Department of Oral Biology, Human Identification Research Institute, BK21 FOUR Project, Yonsei University College of Dentistry, Seoul, South Korea.

Objective: Ultrasonographic examination is easy, fast, safe, and used in various fields; however, its application to the facial area has been limited. Complex anatomical structures are mixed within thin, soft tissues in the facial region; therefore, understanding their structural characteristics is crucial. This study aimed to use ultrasonography to obtain information on the layered structure and soft tissue thickness of the eye area around the orbicularis oculi muscle and provide guidance for clinical practice.

Rationale: Aortoesophageal fistula (AEF) is an exceedingly rare yet critically life-threatening condition, with mortality rates nearing 100% if not addressed promptly. AEF often develops in the context of thoracic aortic aneurysms, esophageal malignancies, or as a complication of foreign body ingestion and prior thoracic aortic surgeries. This study reports an exceptionally severe and clinically rare case of AEF associated with a pseudaneurysm induced by esophageal stenting.
