Fascioliasis, a zoonotic disease caused by liver flukes of the genus , poses significant health threats to both humans and livestock. While some infections remain asymptomatic, others can lead to fatal outcomes, particularly during the acute phase characterized by the migration of immature parasites causing severe liver damage. Through the combination of data acquired via high-spatial-resolution atmospheric-pressure scanning microprobe matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (AP-SMALDI MSI) and nanohydrophilic interaction chromatography tandem mass spectrometry, we investigated glycosphingolipids (GSLs) in both adult and immature parasite stages as well as the host liver and bile duct to unravel the intricacies of the host-pathogen interplay and associated pathology.

Subcapsular liver hematoma is an uncommon and underdiagnosed manifestation of fascioliasis. We report 6 cases and review 21 previous reports. The mean age was 51 years; 12 cases were from Peru; and 18 were women.

Background: Hepatobiliary fascioliasis has two phases, each requiring specific management approaches. Triclabendazole has been widely effective in treating the two phases of clinical fascioliasis and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in the biliary phase. We aimed to characterize presentations of hepatobiliary fascioliasis and highlight the role of ERCP in management.

Fascioliasis is one of the most common foodborne zoonotic infection of ruminants in Bangladesh. To estimate the prevalence and associated risk factors of fascioliasis and extent of liver damage, 825 livers of sheep and goats were randomly inspected during onsite slaughterhouse visiting in Naogaon, Natore, Rajshahi and Joypurhat districts. The overall prevalence of fascioliasis was 25.
