Molecular testing of tumor samples for targetable biomarkers is restricted by a lack of standardization, turnaround-time, cost, and tissue availability across cancer types. Additionally, targetable alterations of low prevalence may not be tested in routine workflows. Algorithms that predict DNA alterations from routinely generated hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained images could prioritize samples for confirmatory molecular testing.

Evaluation of Exosomal Proteins as Potential Biomarkers from RBC Stages of 3D7.

ACS Infect Dis

December 2024

Department of Zoology, BMTC, Human Genetics and Wildlife Biology and Conservation, School of Sciences, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380009, India.

Falciparum malaria relies extensively on cell-to-cell communication, and earlier research on the function of exosomal proteins derived from infected red blood cells (iRBCs) has been classified into numerous important roles. In this study, the exosomes were derived from -iRBCs cultured in vitro during synchronized trophozoite stages. The isolated exosomes were assessed using NTA, FE-SEM, and flow cytometry.

Visible Light Triggerable CO Releasing Micelles.

J Am Chem Soc

December 2024

Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of Denver, Denver, Colorado 80210, United States.

Carbon monoxide (CO), along with nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide, is one of a trinity of known gasotransmitters, or endogenously produced gaseous molecules that signal and regulate a panoply of physiological functions. CO releasing molecules (CORMs) are chemical tools that enable the study and application of this ephemeral gas, that, ideally, release CO on-demand when externally stimulated. Surveying the available triggers, photolysis is potentially advantageous: It is contactless and grants practitioners unparalleled spatial and temporal control.

Introduction: Urethral strictures following endoscopic management of Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV) varies from 0 % to 25 % and occurs due to iatrogenic injury of the urethra.

Objectives: To assess the outcomes of children undergoing urethral reconstruction following an iatrogenic injury during endoscopic management of PUV.

Methods: A retrospective review of a prospectively maintained database from 2015 to 2023 was undertaken of children who were referred following an iatrogenic injury to the urethra from prior endoscopic management of PUV.
