Schistosomula of S. haematobium have been shown to be susceptible to in vitro killing by eosinophils in the presence of serum from an infected individual. The highest level of killing was found after 48 h in culture. Killing was related to the eosinophil to schistosomula ratio, being highest at 5000: 1. Killing was also related to serum concentration, being highest at a 1/10 final dilution, falling to background levels at a 1/120 final dilution. At a cell: target ratio of 2000: 1 and at a serum dilution of 1/10 eosinophils from subjects with high peripheral blood eosinophil counts were, cell for cell, more active in killing S. haematobium schistosomula than were eosinophils from subjects with lower counts. Sera taken from adults resident in an endemic area gave higher levels of killing in the presence of eosinophils than did sera taken from adults with no history of exposure.

Griscelli syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterised by pigmentary dilution of skin and hair, recurrent skin and pulmonary infections, neurological manifestations, and immunodeficiency. We present a four-month-old female child with hypopigmented silvery hair and a history of recurrent hospitalisations for respiratory illness. The child was extensively evaluated for inborn errors of immunity (IEI), and the final diagnosis of type 2 Griscelli syndrome was made only after genetic testing.

Background: Enteral tube feeding is used for children who are unable to meet their nutritional requirements orally. Gastrointestinal symptoms are some complications that can occur in enteral tube-fed patients. Blended tube feeds (BTFs) for children who are gastrotomy tube-fed have significantly increased in the last decade.

Introduction: Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is a calcium silicate-based cement that has changed conventional dental therapeutic approaches. This study aimed to evaluate physical, chemical and biological properties of novel AGM MTA, in comparison with MTA Angelus.
Methods: The samples were prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Self-assembling ferritin nanoparticle technology is a widely used vaccine development platform for enhancing the efficacy of subunit vaccines by displaying multiple antigens on nanocages. The dengue virus (DENV) envelope domain III (EDIII) protein, the most promising antigen for DENV, has been applied in vaccine development, and it is essential to evaluate the relative immunogenicity of the EDIII protein and EDIII-conjugated ferritin to show the efficiency of the ferritin delivery system compared with EDIII. In this study, we optimized the conditions for the expression of the EDIII protein in , protein purification, and refolding, and these optimization techniques were applied for the purification of EDIII ferritin nanoparticles.

This work aims to recover rare earths from wind turbines NdFeB magnets through pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical techniques. First, a NdFeB hydride powder is obtained by decrepitation with hydrogen. Subsequently, this powder was subjected to a chlorination roasting process and successive leaching with water to bring the metals into solution.
