Phylotranscriptomics of Theaceae: generic-level relationships, reticulation and whole-genome duplication.

Ann Bot

March 2022

CAS Key Laboratory for Plant Diversity and Biogeography of East Asia, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming, China.

Background And Aims: Theaceae, with three tribes, nine genera and more than 200 species, are of great economic and ecological importance. Recent phylogenetic analyses based on plastomic data resolved the relationships among the three tribes and the intergeneric relationships within two of those tribes. However, generic-level relationships within the largest tribe, Theeae, were not fully resolved.

Ancient genome duplications during the evolution of kiwifruit (Actinidia) and related Ericales.

Ann Bot

September 2010

Key Laboratory of Plant Germplasm Enhancement and Speciality Agriculture, Wuhan Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Background And Aims: To assess the number and phylogenetic distribution of large-scale genome duplications in the ancestry of Actinidia, publicly available expressed sequenced tags (ESTs) for members of the Actinidiaceae and related Ericales, including tea (Camellia sinensis), were analysed.

Methods: Synonymous divergences (K(s)) were calculated for all duplications within gene families and examined for evidence of large-scale duplication events. Phylogenetic comparisons for a selection of orthologues among several related species in Ericales and two outgroups permitted placement of duplication events in relation to lineage divergences.

Patency rates for autologous saphenous vein (SV) conduits used in coronary artery bypass grafts remain poor. Patients with failed grafts are difficult to treat with subsequent interventions, necessitating the development of innovative therapies. Previous studies have suggested that induction of smooth muscle cell (SMC) apoptosis may reduce neointima formation.
