A pair of epimer with an unprecedented 4/7/6 tricyclic skeleton sesquiterpene (1 and 2) and five novel sesquiterpene (3-7) were isolated from Callicarpa nudiflora Hook. et Arn. Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic analyses, single crystal X-ray diffraction, experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra comparison and DP4+ probability analysis.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading global cause of death, largely attributable to thrombotic events that can result in conditions like myocardial infarction and stroke. The serotonin 2A receptor (5-HTR) has been identified as a key mediator in platelet aggregation and thrombogenesis, making it a promising target for antithrombotic therapies. Hemostatic materials should have efficient and rapid hemostasis, good biocompatibility, and nontoxicity. However, common hemostatic sponges often fail due to their weak mechanical strength, low biocompatibility, and slow hemostasis. Herein, we have developed novel and multifunctional chitosan/cellulose/tannic acid (CS/OMCC/TA) biocomposite sponges by a freeze-drying method without adding any chemical cross-linking agents.
