Objectives: To highlight a case of unilateral Mondini's dysplasia and it's potential to manifest as paradoxical cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhoea and recurrent meningitis in an adult.
Methods: A single case report with presentation and management of a patient with left sided Mondini's Dysplasia who presented with watery nasal discharge in the background of recurrent meningitis. We review the differential diagnoses and the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to management.
Results: Post-auricular approach was taken and the leak was identified at the footplate of Stapes and sealed with fascia lata. The middle ear was obliterated and blind sac closure was done. The patient made a good recovery.

To summarize the HRCT and MRI appearances of stapical footplate fistula related to inner ear malformation (SFF-Re-IEM). The HRCT and MRI materials of 48 cases (53 ears) SFF-Re-IEM were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 25 SFF-Re-IEM ears were confirmed by surgery.

Inner ear malformations are predominantly attributed to developmental arrest during the embryonic stage of membranous labyrinth development. Due to the inherent difficulty in clinically assessing the status of the membranous labyrinth, these malformations are diagnosed with radiographic imaging, based on the morphological characteristics of the bony labyrinth. While extensive research has elucidated the intricacies of membranous labyrinth development in mouse models, comprehensive investigations into the developmental trajectory of the bony labyrinth, especially about its calcification process, have been notably lacking.

To study the frequency of gene mutation sites in children with enlarged vestibular aqueduct deafness in Yunnan, report the new mutation sites of gene, further clarify the mutation spectrum of gene, and explore the association between biallelic and monoallelic mutations of gene and CT phenotype of inner ear, so as to provide basis for clinical and genetic diagnosis of deafness. Review the results of temporal bone CT examination of 390 children after cochlear implantation in the Department of Otolaryngology, Kunming Children's Hospital from August 2016 to September 2021. Sanger sequencing of gene was performed in 59 children with enlarged vestibular aqueduct.
