Objective: Acupuncture therapies are known for their effectiveness in treating a variety of gastric diseases, although the mechanisms underlying these effects are not fully understood. This study tested the effectiveness of electroacupuncture (EA) at acupoints Zhongwan (RN12) and Weishu (BL21) for managing gastric motility disorder (GMD) and investigated the underlying mechanisms involved.
Methods: A GMD model was used to evaluate the impact of EA on various aspects of gastric function including the amplitude of gastric motility, electrogastrogram, food intake, and the rate of gastric emptying.

Objective: To investigate the mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) in treating diabetic gastroparesis (DGP) by inhibiting the activation of Nod-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and pyroptosis mediated via NLRP3/cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase-1 (caspase-1)/gasdermin D (GSDMD) signaling pathway.
Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups including the control, DGP model, EA, and MCC950 groups. The DGP model was established by a one-time high-dose intraperitoneal injection of 2% streptozotocin and a high-glucose and high-fat diet for 8 weeks.

Objectives: To investigate the selection rules of acupoints for promoting gastrointestinal function recovery after colorectal cancer surgery using complex network technology.
Methods: Relevant literatures on acupuncture and moxibustion for promoting gastrointestinal function recovery after colorectal cancer surgery were searched from databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, VIP Chinese Journal Service Platform, and SinoMed from retrieved to May 9, 2023. Literatures were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a database of acupuncture and moxibustion for promoting gastrointestinal function recovery after intestinal cancer surgery was established.

Functional constipation (FC) is a dysfunctional gastrointestinal disease with the main clinical manifestations of complex bowel movements, incomplete bowel movements, reduced frequency of bowel movements, and dry and hard stools, which seriously affect patients' quality of life and psychology. Electroacupuncture improves constipation by performing acupuncture on specific points in the body to accelerate intestinal peristalsis. Chinese medicine ironing therapy (CMIT) can warm up the meridians, accelerate local blood circulation, promote gastrointestinal dynamics, and accelerate gastric emptying.

Background: Failure to thrive (FTT) is a challenging childhood condition that may lead to developmental delays and requires immediate therapeutic strategies. Children are diagnosed with FTT when their weight or rate of weight gain is significantly below that of other children of similar age and sex. A Pub Med literature search revealed no published acupuncture treatments for failure to thrive or faltering growth.
