Phages are known as a promising method to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the human and veterinary sector. Use of phage aerosols enormously increases the application field, although the impact on the infectivity of phages during nebulization needs to be evaluated. In this study was treated on plates and chicken skin with nebulized phage particles of the type, identified by transmission electron microscopy, using a commercial nebulizer primarily used for HO disinfection. The reduction of bacterial number by aerosol applied phage particles was evaluated. It could clearly be shown that the phage particles were able to infect after being nebulized using ultrasound technology. Further studies on other types of phages as well as other conditions must be performed to standardize the aerosolic application of phages.

Pf bacteriophages, lysogenic viruses that infect are implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic infections; phage-infected (Pf+) strains are known to predominate in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF) who are older and have more severe disease. However, the transmission patterns of Pf underlying the progressive dominance of Pf+ strains are unclear. In particular, it is unknown whether phage transmission commonly occurs horizontally between bacteria within the airway via viral particles or if Pf+ bacteria are mostly acquired via new infections.

Coliphage N4 is a representative species of the family of bacteriophages. Originally structurally studied in 2008, the capsid structure was solved to 14 Å to reveal an interesting arrangement of Ig-like decoration proteins across the surface of the capsid. Herein, we present a high-resolution N4 structure, reporting a 2.

Background: The current H3N2 influenza subunit vaccine exhibits weak immunogenicity, which limits its effectiveness in preventing and controlling influenza virus infections.
Methods: In this study, we aimed to develop a T4 phage-based nanovaccine designed to enhance the immunogenicity of two antigens by displaying the HA1 and M2e antigens of the H3N2 influenza virus on each phage nanoparticle. Specifically, we fused the Soc protein with the HA1 antigen and the Hoc protein with the M2e antigen, assembling them onto a T4 phage that lacks Soc and Hoc proteins (SocHocT4), thereby constructing a nanovaccine that concurrently presents both HA1 and M2e antigens.

The mammalian gut microbiome is a dense and diverse community of microorganisms that reside in the distal gastrointestinal tract. In recent decades, the bacterial members of the gut microbiome have been the subject of intense research. Less well studied is the large community of bacteriophages that reside in the gut, which number in the billions of viral particles per gram of feces, and consist of considerable unknown viral "dark matter.

Environmental cues sometimes have a direct impact on phage particle stability, as well as bacterial physiology and metabolism, having a profound effect on phage infection outcome. Here, we explore the impact of temperature on the interplay between phage (phiIPLA-RODI) and its host, . Our results show that phiIPLA-RODI is a more effective predator at room (25 °C) compared to body temperature (37 °C) against planktonic cultures of several strains with varying degrees of phage susceptibility.
