Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) simulations may provide insight into this novel therapeutic technology and help optimize its use. However, because of the relatively short history and technical complexity of TEER simulations, important questions remain unanswered. For example, there is no consensus on how to handle the annular boundary conditions in these simulations.

To explore the feasibility of transthoracic cardiac shear wave elastography (SWE) for non-invasive quantitative measurement of myocardial stiffness in healthy volunteers (HV) and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients, and analyze the relationship between myocardial shear wave velocity (SWV) and left ventricular diastolic function. A total of 16 HV who underwent health check-ups and 5 HCM patients who visited the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic at Fujian Medical University Affiliated Union Hospital from September 2022 to October 2023 were prospectively recruited. The SWE technique was used to measure SWV of the basal segment of the interventricular septum, including left ventricular long-axis myocardial shear wave velocity (LA-SWV) and short-axis myocardial shear wave velocity (SA-SWV).

. Motivated by the diagnostic value of tissue viscosity beyond elasticity, the goal of this work is to develop robust methodologies based on shear wave elastography (SWE) to reconstruct combined elasticity and viscosity maps of soft tissues out of the measurement plane.Building on recent advancements in full-waveform inversion in reconstructing elasticity maps beyond the measurement plane, we propose to reconstruct a complete viscoelasticity map by novel combination of three ideas: (a) multiresolution imaging, where lower frequency content is used to reconstruct low resolution map, which is then utilized as a starting point for higher resolution reconstruction by including higher frequency content; (b) acquiring SWE data on multiple planes from multiple pushes, one at a time, and then simultaneously using all the data to invert for a single viscoelasticity map; (c) sequential reconstruction where combined viscoelasticity reconstruction is followed by fixing the elasticity map (and thus kinematics), and repeating the reconstruction but just for the viscosity map.

Functional amyloids (protein nanofibrils, PNF) synthesized from plant sources exhibit unique physicochemical and nanomechanical properties that could improve food texture. While environmental factors affecting PNFs are well-known, scientific evidence on how cells (focus on the oral cavity) respond to them under physiological conditions is lacking. Self-assembled PNFs synthesized from fava bean whole protein isolate show a strong pH- and solvent-dependent morphology and elasticity modification measured by atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Recently developed imaging techniques have been used to examine the redistribution of human red blood cells and comparator particles dispersed in carrier fluids within evaporating droplets. We demonstrate that progressive gelation initiates along an annular front, isolating a central pool that briefly remains open to particulate advection before gelation completes across the droplet center. Transition to an elastic solid is evidenced by cracking initiating proximal to front locations.
