We report the design and synthesis of indanone derivatives 1-4 with RR'N-H⋯OC intramolecular hydrogen bonds, in which ESIPT takes place and its dynamics and thermodynamics correlate with H-bond strength, facilitated by electron-withdrawing R' groups. Compound 4 (R' = COCF) shows mechanically induced ESIPT for the first time, where -CF⋯HN- interaction plays a key role in the non-centrosymmetric crystal packing.

The mechanical properties of dietary items are known to influence skull morphology, either through evolution or by phenotypic plasticity. Here, we investigated the impact of supplementary feeding of peanuts on the morphology of red squirrels () from five populations in Britain (North Scotland, Borders, Jersey and two temporally distinct populations from Formby (Merseyside)). Stable isotope analysis confirmed dietary ecology in 58 specimens.

Immunogenic cell death (ICD) offers a promising avenue for the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). However, optimizing immune responses remains a formidable challenge. This study presents the design of RBCm@Pt-CoNi layered double hydroxide (RmPLH), an innovative sonosensitizer for sonodynamic therapy (SDT), aimed at enhancing the efficacy of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors by inducing robust ICD responses.

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina (Cirurgia Geral), Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) has become a public health problem, which is associated with high morbidity and mortality, due to the chronic complications, such as diabetic neuropathy. Current recommendations for the treatment of neuropathic pain achieve a reduction of 30% in only 30% of cases. Therefore, it is necessary to identify new therapeutic approaches to improve the quality of life of diabetic patients.

Deep-UV microscopy enables high-resolution, label-free molecular imaging by leveraging biomolecular absorption properties in the UV spectrum. Recent advances in UV-imaging hardware have renewed interest in this technique for quantitative live cell imaging applications. However, UV-induced photodamage remains a concern for longitudinal dynamic imaging studies.

The waning immunity following the COVID-19 vaccination become a significant concern and the immunological dynamics of vaccine-induced antibodies after vaccination need to be explored. The aim of this study was to compare anti-SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) antibody levels before and after a booster dose with heterologous COVID-19 vaccine and to identify factors influencing the levels after receiving the booster dose. A cross-sectional study was conducted in which individuals who received primary doses of CoronaVac and a booster dose with an mRNA-based vaccine were recruited using a purposive sampling technique.
