The existing literature on the importance of maternal responsiveness and the growing body of literature supporting early ethnic-racial cultural socialization highlight the need for an observational measure of how they co-occur during mother-child interactions. This study presents the development and initial validation of the Culturally Affirming and Responsive Experiences (CARE) measure, an observational measure of the presence and quality of responsiveness and ethnic-racial cultural socialization within early mother-child interactions. Pilot study results with 103 racially and ethnically diverse mother-child dyads demonstrated initial reliability and validity of the CARE measure. Implications of applying the CARE measure to early mother-child interactions to assess quality of responsiveness and ethnic-racial cultural socializations are discussed.

Background: The vicious cycle between depression and dementia increases the risk of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathogenesis and pathology. Background: In Alzheimer's Disease trials, the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) are commonly utilized as inclusionary criteria at screening. These measures, however, do not always reaffirm inclusionary status at baseline. Score changes between screening and baseline visits may imply potential score inflation at screening leading to inappropriate participant enrollment.

CROs are useful tools in clinical trials for individuals with AD, MCI, and dementia who are unable to self-report. Background: This study investigates the therapeutic versus side effects of intranasal lithium chloride (LiCl) in Ryanodex formulation vehicle (RFV) to inhibit inflammation and pyroptosis and to ameliorate on cognitive dysfunction and depressive behavior in 5XFAD mice.
Method: 5XFAD and wild type (WT) B6SJLF1/J mice were treated with intranasal or oral LiCl (3 mM/kg) dissolved in RFV starting at 2 or 9 months old and the continuous treatment lasted for 12 weeks. Behavior was examined for depression, cognition, olfaction, and motor function at the ages of 5 or 12 months.
