Modern synthetic biology requires fast and efficient cloning strategies for the assembly of new transcription units or entire pathways. Modular Cloning (MoClo) is a standardized synthetic biology workflow, which has tremendously simplified the assembly of genetic elements for transgene expression. MoClo is based on Golden Gate Assembly and allows to combine genetic elements of a library through a hierarchical syntax-driven pipeline. Here we describe the assembly of a genetic cassette for transgene expression in the single-celled model alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Purpose: Young adults with autism spectrum disorder (YAASD) often lack the skills needed for successful adult living and subsequently develop lower quality of life and health in adulthood. Therefore, we developed a framework to support resilience and improve quality of life in YAASD, which will be used to develop a life-skills curriculum for YAASD.
Methods: We conducted a qualitative study of YAASD, parents of YAASD and service providers recruited from agencies that serve YAASD using Grounded Theory.

Crustaceans are housed in zoos and aquariums and have also gained importance in the private sector and food industry. Shell lesions are common and often attributed to bacterial infections. However, few controlled studies have been performed evaluating antibiotics in crustaceans.

Secretion of high-value proteins and enzymes is fundamental to the synthetic biology economy, allowing continuous fermentation during production and protein purification without cell lysis. Most eukaryotic protein secretion is encoded by an N-terminal signal peptide (SP); however, the strong impact of SP sequence variation on the secretion efficiency of a given protein is not well defined. Despite high natural SP sequence diversity, most recombinant protein secretion systems use only a few well-characterised SPs.

The species is known from 10 collections, including material from Isla del Coco. The species is endemic to the Galápagos Archipelago-Isla del Cocos biogeographic complex and is compared to the seven known eastern Pacific ophidiine cusk-eels; its relationship to these species is unclear.
