Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by circulating anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) autoantibodies (ACPAs), resulting in inflammation of the joints and other organs. We have established novel assays to assess immune cell subpopulations, including citrullinated antigen-specific (CAS) autoreactive B and T lymphocytes, in patients with RA.

Methods And Results: We found that activated CD25 T cells were markedly increased in patients with RA compared to healthy controls.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive and fatal disease, characterized by impaired wound repair, tissue remodeling and fibrosis. Immune system may participate in the development and progression of the disease as indicated by altered activity in IPF sufferers. This study investigates the immune response to the BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine in patients with IPF compared to healthy controls, with a particular focus on evaluation of antibody responses, interferon-gamma release, cytokine profiling and a broad panel of immune cell subpopulations.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common type of thyroid cancer, with considerable variability in its clinical presentation and prognosis. Recent studies have focused on the relationship between its clinicopathological characteristics and inflammatory biomarkers, particularly the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). Our aim was to investigate the correlation between NLR and the clinicopathological features of PTC.

Objectives: The annual growth in the population of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients is accompanied by a trend towards younger age groups among new cases. Despite the escalating mortality risk observed in MHD patients, there remains a dearth of research focused on young and middle-aged individuals in this cohort, leading to a deficiency in specialized predictive instruments for this demographic. This research seeks to explore the critical determinants impacting mortality risk in young and middle-aged MHD patients and to construct a prediction model accordingly.

Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS), formerly recognized as Crohn's-like structures, serve as crucial biomarkers for evaluating the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). Understanding their spatial distribution, cellular composition, and interactions within CRC is paramount for comprehending the immune response in the tumor microenvironment (TME). TLS are comprised of a T-cellular compartment and a B-cellular compartment, the latter encompassing follicular dendritic cells (FDCs), high endothelial venules (HEVs), and lymphatic vessels.
