Introduction: Accurately estimating bone perfusion and metabolism using [F]NaF kinetics from shorter scan times could help address concerns related to patient comfort, motion, and throughput for PET scans. We examined the impact of changing the PET scan duration on the accuracy of [F]NaF kinetic parameters in the knee.

Methods: Both knees of twenty participants with and without osteoarthritis were scanned using a hybrid PET-MRI system (53 ± 13 years, BMI 25.9 ± 4.2 kg/m, 13 female). Seventeen participants were scanned for 54 ± 2 min, and an additional three participants were scanned for 75 min. Patlak and Hawkins kinetic parameters ( , , extraction fraction) were assessed using 50- or 75-minutes of scan data as well as for scan durations that were retrospectively shortened. The error of the kinetic uptake parameters was calculated in bone regions throughout the knee.

Results: The mean error of Patlak , Hawkins , , and extraction fraction was less than 10% for scan durations exceeding 30 min and decreased with increasing scan duration.

Conclusions: The length of dynamic data acquisition can be reduced to as short as 30 min while retaining accuracy within the limits of reproducibility of Hawkins kinetic uptake parameters.

Purpose: In addition to rodent models, the chick embryo model has gained attention for radiotracer evaluation. Previous studies have investigated tumours on the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM), but its value for radiotracer imaging of intracerebral tumours has yet to be demonstrated.

Procedures: Human U87 glioblastoma cells and U87-IDH1 mutant glioma cells were implanted into the brains of chick embryos at developmental day 5.

Purpose: Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans with radioligands targeting tau neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) have accelerated our understanding of the role of misfolded tau in neurodegeneration. While intended for human research, applying these radioligands to small animals establishes a vital translational link. Transgenic animal models of dementia, such as the tau rat SHR24, play a crucial role in enhancing our understanding of these disorders.

Catalytic effects of multiple heterointerfaces on the hydrogen storage properties of magnesium hydride.

State Key Laboratory of Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Materials and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, China. Electronic address:

The application and further industrialization of magnesium hydride (MgH) are restricted by its intrinsically high de-hydrogenation temperature and dragged kinetics though it is believed as one of the most encouraging solid-state hydrogen storage materials with considerable capacity. Herein, a bimetallic layered MXene VNbC, which was mixed with MgH by high energy ball milling, was obtained by etching compact layered MAX VNbAlC with HF. The beginning de-hydrogenation temperature of the as-prepared MgH blended with 10 wt% VNbC (denoted as MgH-10 VNbC) composites was excitingly 170 °C and it exhibited faster kinetics and excellent cycling stability.

Nanoparticles embedded in polymer matrices play a critical role in enhancing the properties and functionalities of composite materials. Detecting and quantifying nanoparticles from optical images (fixed samples-in vitro imaging) is crucial for understanding their distribution, aggregation, and interactions, which can lead to advancements in nanotechnology, materials science, and biomedical research. In this article, we propose an ensembled deep learning approach for automatic nanoparticle detection and oligomerization quantification in a polymer matrix for optical images.

Sex differences in ventricular-vascular interactions associated with aerobic capacity.

Echo Res Pract

January 2025

School of Human Kinetics, Trinity Western University, CANIL Building, Rm. 115 22500 University Drive, Langley, BC, V2Y 1Y1, Canada.

Background: Aerobic capacity measured by maximal oxygen uptake (VOmax) is related to functional capacity and is a strong independent predictor of all-cause and disease-specific mortality. Sex-specific cardiac and vascular responses to endurance training have been observed, however, their relative contributions to VOmax are less understood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate sex-specific ventricular-vascular interactions associated with VOmax in healthy males and females.
