A 68-year-old man with a history of remote sinus surgery presented with several months of progressive diplopia, proptosis, and epiphora. He was found to have a large, cystic mass in the lateral extraconal space of the right orbit, which was removed. Pathology demonstrated an epidermoid cyst with recurrence at post-operative month 3. Follow-up resection was performed with the insertion of a modified Jones tube into the maxillary sinus to serve as a persistent outlet and prevent future recurrence. At post-operative month 18 after tube insertion, he remains without disease recurrence. The authors describe this novel technique as a method to prevent recurrence in orbital cyst management.

Various tubular diseases in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) are caused by monoclonal immunoglobulin light chains (LCs). However, the physicochemical characteristics of the disease-causing LCs contributing to the onset of MM-associated tubular diseases remain unclear. We herein report a rare case of MM-associated combined tubulopathies: non-crystalline light chain proximal tubulopathy (LCPT) and crystalline light chain cast nephropathy (LCCN).

Background And Objectives: Cold-stored whole blood (CS-WB) in paediatric cardiac surgery is making a resurgence, given its identified benefits compared to conventional blood component therapy (CT).
Study Design And Methods: A single-centre retrospective study was conducted from January 2018 to October 2018 by including children <18 years of age undergoing cardiac surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. ABO-compatible CS-WB from non-directed random donors was leukoreduced with platelet-sparing filters and compared with CT.

Introduction: In 2015, the FDA released a Drug Safety Communication regarding a possible link between opioid exposure during early pregnancy and an increased risk of fetal neural tube defects (NTDs). At the time, the indications for opioid use during pregnancy were not changed due to incomplete maternal toxicity data and limitations in human and animal studies. To assess these knowledge gaps, largescale animal studies are ongoing; however, state-of-the-art technologies have emerged as promising tools to assess otherwise non-standard endpoints.

The aim of our study was to evaluate the compatibility of lacrimal syringe test with dacryoscintigraphy (DSG) in the postoperative evaluation of external dacryocystorhinostomy (Ext-DCR) surgery. Thirty eyes of 30 patients suffering from unilateral epiphora with discharge and showing complete obstruction on lacrimal irrigation test were included in the study. Patients with dysfunctional lacrimal pump function, revision surgery, partial obstruction, and ocular surface diseases were not included in the study.

The continuous advancements in ultraviolet-C (UV-C) optoelectronics are poised to meet the growing demand for efficient and innovative optoelectronic devices, particularly in image sensing and neural communication. This study proposes a low-cost tube sealing and muffle calcination process for the catalyst-free synthesis of polymorphic β-GaO nanomaterials. These nanomaterials are synthesized via a vapor-solid (VS) growth mechanism, enabling the formation of high-quality nanowires (NWs), nanobelts (NBs), and nanosheets (NSs).
