Clinical and electroencephalographic examinations of 142 children with rolandic benign epilepsy conducted over 10 years have made it possible to establish two courses of the disease: favourable and less favourable. Exogenous deleterious factors have been found to play a significant role in the development of the disease. Anticonvulsive therapy is recommended in all cases of the disease. In the author's opinion, a rolandic variant of opercular epilepsy observed predominantly in childhood should be differentiated.
