The plant-specific () gene family is important for plant growth and development. However, a comprehensive analysis of the family in orchids is limited. Based on the genome data of , the gene family was identified and analyzed by bioinformatics methods in this study. Ten putative genes (s) were characterized and phylogenetically classified into two groups according to their full amino acid sequences. Protein motifs analysis revealed that overall structures of PeIDDs in the same group were relatively conserved. Its promoter regions harbored a large number of responsive elements, including light responsive, abiotic stress responsive elements, and plant hormone c-acting elements. The transcript level of genes under cold and drought conditions, and by exogenous auxin (NAA) and abscisic acid (ABA) treatments further confirmed that most s responded to various conditions and might play essential roles under abiotic stresses and hormone responses. In addition, distinct expression profiles in different tissues/organs suggested that s might be involved in various development processes. Furthermore, the prediction of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) revealed some PeIDDs (PeIDD3 or PeIDD5) might function via cooperating with chromatin remodeling factors. The results of this study provided a reference for further understanding the function of s.

Distribution and Environmental Preference of Potential Mercury Methylators in Paddy Soils across China.

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

National Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology and College of Resources and Environment, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan 430070, China.

The neurotoxin methylmercury (MeHg) is produced mainly from the transformation of inorganic Hg by microorganisms carrying the gene pair. Paddy soils are known to harbor diverse microbial communities exhibiting varying abilities in methylating inorganic Hg, but their distribution and environmental drivers remain unknown at a large spatial scale. Using gene amplicon sequencing, this study examined Hg-methylating communities from major rice-producing paddy soils across a transect of ∼3600 km and an altitude of ∼1300 m in China.

Objectives: Acetylated tubulin is a hallmark of flagellar stability in spermatozoa, and studies have demonstrated the ability of CDYL to function as a tubulin acetyltransferase in spermatozoa. Of note, germline conditional knockout of Cdyl can lead to asthenoteratozoospermia and infertility in male mice. However, the role of CDYL gene in human fertility remains uncharacterized.

Introduction: Recurrent opportunistic infections are particularly common in patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, these opportunistic infections have also been reported in HIV-negative patients, especially those with primary immunodeficiency disorder (PID), a condition that involves a large heterogeneous group of disorders arising from defects in immune system development and/or function.

Case: Here, we report a very rare case of recurrent opportunistic infections in a non-HIV-infected patient combined with mutations in complement component C6 and nuclear factor kB subunit 1 ().

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the role and mechanism of -hydroxyl cinnamaldehyde (CMSP) in triggering ferroptosis of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cells.

Methods: The impact of CMSP on ferroptosis in H1688 and SW1271 cells was assessed through cell experiments and biological information analysis. Moreover, the expression of heme oxygenase 1 (HMOX1) in SCLC tissue was examined.
