We studied the relationship of inotropic responses of the isolated myocardium to stimulation of β-and β-adrenergic receptors (β-AR) with echocardiography parameters in 28 patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Myocardial fragments (trabeculae of the right atrial appendage) were obtained during coronary artery bypass surgery. The inotropic response of the trabeculae was assessed in an isometric mode. Stimulation of β-and β-AR with agonists was performed against the background of preliminary α-AR blockade. In case of preserved ejection fraction, significant inotropic response of the trabeculae (135 (112; 154)% from the initial contraction amplitude) was observed after β-AR stimulation, while in reduced ejection fraction, its significant increase was observed after β-AR stimulation (126 (112; 170)% from the initial contraction amplitude). In patients with preserved and reduced ejection fraction, the correlations between the inotropic responses of the trabeculae to β-and β-AR stimulation and echocardiography parameters were different. The revealed differences reflect the degree of cardiac remodeling under condition of the studied pathology.

Rationale: Thrombus is the most common occupying lesion in the cardiac chambers, it is often distinguished from cardiac neoplastic occupations. Among them, the most common is cardiac myxoma, whose imaging manifestations are often confused with thrombus. However, the 2 types of lesions have different therapeutic strategies and are both potentially high-risk sources of embolism, so early differentiation between intracardiac thrombus and cardiac tumor is essential.

Purpose: This study explores the effects of anthracycline chemotherapy (AC) on breast cancer patients, focusing on changes in body composition, advanced echocardiographic parameters at rest and during exercise, and biomarkers; and subsequently assesses whether these parameters are associated with impaired cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF).
Methods: In this prospective study, we evaluated women with early-stage breast cancer undergoing AC at three visits: before AC, 1 month after, and 6 months post-AC.
Results: The study included 32 women with breast cancer, with functional disability increasing from 9.

A 3-year-old spayed male mixed-breed Labrador presented to the Emergency and Critical Care Unit with lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, a recent history of presyncopal episodes, and severe exercise intolerance. On admission, the patient had bradycardia, low blood pressure, and mild abdominal pain. Serum biochemistry information revealed severe hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, hypoglycemia, and mildly increased liver and kidney parameters.

Background: This study aimed to assess the accuracy of tricuspid spectral Doppler (E/A) and tissue Doppler parameters (E/E') to diagnose right ventricular diastolic dysfunction (RVDD) in comparison to American Society of Echocardiography (ASE criteria) in pediatric tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) patients after surgical repair.
Methods: This prospective, observational study was done at a tertiary care hospital involving 40 pediatric TOF patients aged less than 2 years who underwent complete intracardiac repair with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Echocardiographic observations were made using a pediatric transesophageal echocardiography probe after surgical repair in the post-CPB period.

Objectives: We aim to assess right ventricular function in patients undergoing mitral valve repair using trans-esophageal echocardiography, focusing on the predictive value of right ventricular longitudinal strain compared to other echocardiographic measures.
Design: Retrospective analysis.
Setting: Toronto General Hospital.
