Glomus tumours (GTs) are rare benign neoplasms arising from modified smooth muscle cells (SMCs) surrounding arteriovenous anastomosis. Typically, these tumours are found in the distal portion of the digits, especially under the fingernails. A GTs originating from the trachea is extremely rare. We are presenting the case of a Caucasian man in his early 80s, presenting with upper airway obstruction and massive bleeding caused by a large tracheal tumour to which final diagnosis of glomangioma of the trachea was retained. Methods of diagnostics, management and follow-up are documented. The incidence of GTs accounts about 1.6% of soft tissue tumours, and they are mainly located in dermal and subcutaneous tissue but can be equally find throughout the body. However, tracheal glomus tumours are the most clinically significant as they can be malignant and cause life-threatening condition through central airway obstruction. Histological analysis provides certainty of diagnosis, and surgical resection is the main treatment option.

Craniofacial syndromes present with exorbitism and airway obstruction as a result of upper and middle facial hypoplasia. Classical subcranial Lefort III (LF III) or monobloc distraction osteogenesis (DO) using an external craniofacial device is used to treat these deformities. These procedures are done during mixed dentition, in most cases, advancing an abnormal face, to a more normal position.

Unplanned extubation (UPE), defined as accidental removal of the endotracheal tube during mechanical ventilation or its replacement due to suspected obstruction or inadequate diameter, is considered the fourth most common adverse event in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). This study aimed to describe a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol that will identify and assess the effect of primary intervention measures designed to prevent UPE in NICU. A search will be carried out in the following databases: PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Scopus, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, SciELO, and LILACS.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by chronic inflammation, airway obstruction, and lung damage, often triggered by cigarette smoke. Dysregulated autophagy and inflammation are key contributors to its progression. Although double-stranded RNA-binding protein Staufen homolog 1 (STAU1), a multifunctional protein primarily involved in mRNA transport and localization, is identified as a potential biomarker, its role in COPD pathogenesis remains unclear.

Aims: Residual neuromuscular blockade (RNB) commonly occurs when using neuromuscular blockers and increases the risk for pulmonary complications, such as airway obstruction and severe hypoxemia, in extubated patients. Rocuronium exhibits a high variability in recovery time, contributing to an increased risk for RNB. This study aimed to identify and characterize the sources of variability in rocuronium exposure and response via a population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) analysis and to apply the developed PK/PD model to investigate clinical implications.
