Background: Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is a minimally invasive surgical treatment for carotid artery stenosis. This study describes a 10-year institutional experience of TCAR and the concurrent development of enhanced recovery protocols.

Methods: Standardized practices were implemented at a single institution for patients undergoing TCAR. This included protocolized preoperative imaging and medical optimization, intraoperative workflow, and postoperative care. Additionally, vascular anesthesiology protocols were established for managing local and general anesthesia. A retrospective review of patients undergoing TCAR was subsequently conducted. Data on patient demographics, procedural details, and outcomes were analyzed from a prospectively maintained institutional database.

Results: Across 321 patients, the median hospital stay after TCAR was 1.0 days with low-postoperative complications, most notably a 1.9% perioperative stroke-death rate.

Conclusions: Multidisciplinary collaboration is necessary to develop sustainable and effective enhanced recovery protocols. Implementation of these care pathways can improve patient outcomes and efficiency of care.

Background: HIV and tuberculosis (TB) co-infection poses a significant health challenge, particularly when involving the central nervous system (CNS), where it leads to severe morbidity and mortality. Current treatments face challenges such as drug resistance, immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS), and persistent inflammation. Glutathione (GSH) has the therapeutic potential to enhance treatment outcomes by improving antibiotic efficacy, reducing inflammation, and mitigating immune dysfunction.

This in vivo study introduces a newly developed spirooxindole derivative that is deemed safe and effective as a potential targeted therapy for various cancers. Extensive in vivo investigations, including histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology, validated its potential for further preclinical and clinical exploration, necessitating comprehensive examinations of its bioavailability, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics. Additionally, this study involves the development of a commercially viable proniosomal drug delivery system for the compound, facilitating controlled drug release.

Liver cancer is a prevalent form of carcinoma worldwide. A novel chitosan-coated optimized formulation capped with irradiated silver nanoparticles (INops) was fabricated to boost the anti-malignant impact of rosuvastatin calcium (RC). Using a 2-factorial design, eight formulations were produced using the solvent evaporation process.

Climate change has led to an increasing frequency of droughts, potentially undermining soil stability. In such a changing environment, the shallow reinforcement effect of plant roots often fails to meet expectations. This study aims to explore whether this is associated with the alteration of plant traits as a response to environmental change.
