The risk of flammability is an unavoidable issue for gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs). Usually, flame-retardant solvents are necessary to be used, but most of them would react with anode/cathode easily and cause serious interfacial instability, which is a big challenge for design and application of nonflammable GPEs. Here, a nonflammable GPE (SGPE) is developed by in situ polymerizing trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFMA) monomers with flame-retardant triethyl phosphate (TEP) solvents and LiTFSI-LiDFOB dual lithium salts. TEP is strongly anchored to PTFMA matrix via polarity interaction between -P = O and -CHCF. It reduces free TEP molecules, which obviously mitigates interfacial reactions, and enhances flame-retardant performance of TEP surprisingly. Anchored TEP molecules are also inhibited in solvation of Li, leading to anion-dominated solvation sheath, which creates inorganic-rich solid electrolyte interface/cathode electrolyte interface layers. Such coordination structure changes Li transport from sluggish vehicular to fast structural transport, raising ionic conductivity to 1.03 mS cm and transfer number to 0.41 at 30 °C. The Li|SGPE|Li cell presents highly reversible Li stripping/plating performance for over 1000 h at 0.1 mA cm, and 4.2 V LiCoO|SGPE|Li battery delivers high average specific capacity > 120 mAh g over 200 cycles. This study paves a new way to make nonflammable GPE that is compatible with Li metal anode.

Various glassy hydrogels are developed by forming dense physical associations within the matrices, which exhibit forced elastic deformation and possess high stiffness, strength, and toughness. Here, the viscoplastic behaviors of the glassy hydrogel of poly(methacrylamide--methacrylic acid) are investigated by stress relaxation and creep measurements. We found that the characteristic time of stress relaxation of the glassy gel is much smaller than that of amorphous polymers.

Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) was considered to be an important marker of multiple tumors, and its high expression is closely related to the early diagnosis and treatment of tumors. At present, metal oxide semiconductors have become a key component of biosensor and bioelectronics technology. Tin oxide shows great potential for development because of its nontoxic, nonpolluting, low price, and excellent electrical properties.

The hydrophilic character and the protection against pathogen proliferation are the most pivotal characteristics of leathers intended for medical purposes.  To achieve these goals, dispersions of TiO2 particles incorporating three different formulations of biomimetically synthesized silica xerogels were tested. Emphasis has been given to the role of single and dual solvents employed.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is characterized by elevated concentrations of growth factors that facilitate bone repair. Nonetheless, the effective integration of PRP with bone implants and the sustained release of its active constituents pose significant challenges. In this study, thrombin is grafted onto the surface of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) via an N,N'-Disuccinimidyl Carbonate (DSC) linker and the retained enzymatic activity of thrombin enables the controlled activation of PRP self-assembly, resulting in the formation of a functional bio-gel layer.
