We report the dynamic effects of magnetic inhomogeneity on the temperature evolution of the Raman modes in polycrystalline LaCoMnO (LCMO) films. The LCMO films were obtained via chemical solution deposition and annealed at different temperatures, 700, 800 and 900 °C. Temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopic studies uncover anomalous phonon energy behaviors, associated with strong spin-phonon couplings revealed even at ambient conditions. This effect, which is observed to occur well above ferromagnetic ordering temperature is ascribed to short-range Mn/Co ferromagnetic clusters. Moreover, our study has shown that spin-phonon coupling strength is governed by competing antiferromagnetic (AFM) and ferromagnetic (FM) interactions. These results significantly enhance the understanding of the complex spin-phonon coupling mechanism to provide insights into magnetic inhomogeneity in systems with two or more magnetic sublattices. These findings suggest the presence of similar effects in other double perovskites within the RECoMnO (RE = rare earths) family, which exhibit analogous magnetic sublattice and order-disorder defects.

Imaging of parotid tumors is crucial for surgery planning, but it cannot distinguish malignant from benign lesions with absolute reliability. The aim of the study was to establish a diagnostic MRI algorithm to differentiate parotid tumors. A retrospective study was conducted including all patients with parotid tumors, who underwent 3T-MRI and surgery.

Nuclear magnetic resonance is extremely attractive for operando studies of chemical reactors. However, the heterogeneous catalyst particles placed inside an NMR probe greatly affect the uniformity of the magnetic field. This problem is especially acute when studying heterogeneous hydrogenation processes using parahydrogen.

The presence of island grains in the initial finished sheets of grain-oriented electrical steel is inevitable in the preparation of ultra-thin strips. Owing to their distinctive shape and size effects, their deformation behavior during rolling differs from that of grain-oriented electrical steels of conventional thickness. This study focuses on the orientation evolution and deformation heterogeneity of island grains during rolling.

An exotic quantum mechanical ground state, i.e. the nonmagnetic= 0 state, has been predicted for higher transition metal tsystems, due to the influence of strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) or in other words, due to unquenched orbital moment contribution.
