Sarcoidosis Vasc Diffuse Lung Dis

Karolinska Institutet.

Published: September 2024

The World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Diseases (WASOG) 2023 conference held in Stockholm, Sweden, focused on disseminating the science and updating the interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) community with the latest science and concepts in precision medicine. This article summarizes the first four sessions of the conference that focused on disease and phenotype characterization, genetics in population cohorts, uses of biobanks and big data,  epidemiology in diverse racial and ethnic groups, and data-driven applications that can be applicable to move the ILD field toward precision medicine.

High-resolution CT phenotypes in pulmonary sarcoidosis: a multinational Delphi consensus study.

Lancet Respir Med

May 2024

Interstitial Lung Disease Unit, Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK; National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, London, UK; Margaret Turner Warwick Centre for Fibrosing Lung Disease, Imperial College London, London, UK.

One view of sarcoidosis is that the term covers many different diseases. However, no classification framework exists for the future exploration of pathogenetic pathways, genetic or trigger predilections, patterns of lung function impairment, or treatment separations, or for the development of diagnostic algorithms or relevant outcome measures. We aimed to establish agreement on high-resolution CT (HRCT) phenotypic separations in sarcoidosis to anchor future CT research through a multinational two-round Delphi consensus process.

The role of chest X-ray in the early diagnosis and staging of sarcoidosis: Is it really should be done?

Reumatol Clin (Engl Ed)

December 2023

Istinye University Faculty of Medicine, WASOG Sarcoidosis Clinic, Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Istanbul, Turkey. Electronic address:

Background: Sarcoidosis is a chronic granulomatous disease characterized by non-caseating granuloma. The conventional chest X-ray (CXR) has important role in the diagnosis, staging and follow-up of disease. Computed tomography (CT) is a second-line imaging method used to determine the extent, complications and differential diagnosis of sarcoidosis.
