Autonomic dysfunction is associated with cardiovascular and neurological disease, including hypertension, heart failure, anxiety, and stress-related disorders. Prior studies demonstrated that late gestation exposure to dexamethasone (DEX) resulted in female-biased increases in stress-responsive mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR), suggesting a role for glucocorticoid-mediated programming of autonomic dysfunction. The present study investigated the influence of sympathetic (SYM) or parasympathetic (PS) blockade on cardiovascular function in male and female rat offspring of mothers injected with DEX (gestation days [GD]18-21).

Hypercalcemia is a common electrolyte disturbance, most frequently caused by hyperparathyroidism or malignancy, though it can also arise from adrenal insufficiency, creating diagnostic challenges. We present a case of a 78-year-old male patient with stage 3b chronic kidney disease due to immunoglobulin A nephropathy who exhibited altered mental status following dehydration caused by a five-day episode of diarrhea. The patient presented with hypercalcemia and acute kidney injury.

Background: Dexamethasone 6 mg in patients with severe COVID-19 has been shown to decrease mortality and morbidity. The effects of higher doses of corticosteroid, that would further increase anti-inflammatory effects, are uncertain. The objective of our study was to assess the effect of 20 mg dexamethasone vs.

Background: Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders (NMOSD) comprise a group of autoimmune-mediated, inflammatory, demyelinating central nervous system diseases caused by aquaporin-4 (AQP4) IgG autoantibodies. Efgartigimod is a human IgG Fc fragment that reduces antibody titers by targeting the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). This study documents the efficacy of efgartigimod combined with intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) in the acute phase of NMOSD.
