Preeclampsia affects 2% to 8% of pregnancies worldwide and results in significantly high maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, with delivery being the only definitive treatment. It is not a single disorder, but rather a manifestation of an insult(s) to the uteroplacental unit -whether maternal, fetal, and/or placental. Multiple etiologies have been implicated, including uteroplacental ischemia, maternal infection and/or inflammation, maternal obesity, sleep disorders, hydatidiform mole, maternal intestinal dysbiosis, autoimmune disorders, fetal diseases, breakdown of maternal-fetal immune tolerance, placental aging, and endocrine disorders.

Increasing evidence shows that pathogenic T cells in type 1 diabetes (T1D) that may have evaded negative selection recognize post-translational modified (PTM) epitopes of self-antigens. We have investigated the profiles of autoantibodies specifically targeting the deamidated epitopes of insulinoma antigen-2 extracellular domain (IA-2ec) to explore their relationship with T1D development. We compared the characteristics of autoantibodies targeting the IA-2ec Q>E epitopes (PTM IA-2ecA) as well as those targeting the IA-2ec unmodified epitopes (IA-2ecA) in participants across different stages of T1D development and in individuals with other types of diabetes and other kinds of autoimmunity.

Introduction: The Behçet's Disease Current Activity Form (BDCAF) is crucial for monitoring the progression and treatment efficacy of Behçet's Disease (BD), an autoimmune disorder that can be triggered or exacerbated by viral infections. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) has long been recognized as a potential trigger for BD, as it can induce systemic inflammation and exacerbate symptoms. In contrast, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has recently emerged and may also initiate or worsen BD symptoms.

It has been known that Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) can latently infect immune cells after the initial infection, and epidemiological studies have suggested its association with the onset of immune-mediated diseases (IMDs). However, the specific impact of EBV infection on IMDs pathology remains unclear. We quantified EBV load of B cell subsets (Naïve B cells, Unswitched memory B cells, Switched memory B cells, Double negative B cells, and Plasmablasts) in IMD patients as well as healthy control (HC) using bulk RNA sequencing data of 504 donors.
