On August 4, 2020, an explosion in the Beirut Port in Lebanon caused over 220 deaths and 76,000 injuries. The blast, which is considered a national tragedy, had profound impacts on Lebanese citizens, notably the traumatic loss for families who lost a loved one. This qualitative study explored the experiences of loss and adaptation among bereaved families following the Beirut Port explosion from a psychosocial perspective.

Background: The role of evaluation evidence in guiding health systems strengthening (HSS) investments at the global-level remains contested. A lack of rigorous impact evaluations is viewed by some as an obstacle to scaling resources. However, others suggest that power dynamics and knowledge hierarchies continue to shape perceptions of rigor and acceptability in HSS evaluations.

In recent years, Natural Orbital Functional (NOF) theory has gained increasing significance in quantum chemistry, successfully addressing one of the field's most challenging problems: providing an accurate and balanced description of systems with strong electronic correlation. The quest for NOFs that strike the delicate balance between computational tractability and predictive accuracy represents a holy grail for researchers. Today, NOFs provide an alternative formalism to both density functional and wavefunction-based methods, with their appeal rooted in a wonderfully simple conceptual framework.
