A primary dataset capturing five distinct types of sheep activities in realistic settings was constructed at various resolutions and viewing angles, targeting the expansion of the domain knowledge for non-contact virtual fencing approaches. The present dataset can be used to develop non-invasive approaches for sheep activity detection, which can be proven useful for farming activities including, but not limited to, sheep counting, virtual fencing, behavior detection for health status, and effective sheep breeding. Sheep activity classes include grazing, running, sitting, standing, and walking.

Border fences have severely impeded the transboundary migration of a number of large mammals worldwide, with central Asia being one of the most impacted. The Marco Polo sheep (Ovis ammon polii), an iconic species of Pamir, is threatened in its transboundary movement by increasing border fencing among their five distributed countries, including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. In this study, by building ensemble species distribution models, we found that eastern Tajikistan had the largest suitable Macro Polo sheep habitat (about 42 % of the total suitable habitat), followed by China (about 32 %).

Many species are essential antibacterial agents, but their antibiosis potential still needs to be elucidated to its full extent. Here, we isolated a soil bacterium, BP9, which has significant antibiosis activity against fungal and bacterial pathogens. BP9 improved the growth of wheat seedlings via active colonization and demonstrated effective biofilm and swarming activity.
