AI Article Synopsis

Article Abstract

A case of organic-inorganic hybridized phosphotungstate modified using aromatic organophosphonic acid, KNaH[KCo(HO)PWO{(PhPO)}]·48HO (1), was successfully synthesized in conventional aqueous solution. The prominent structural feature is that the total structure of [KPWO{(PhPO)}] resembles a V-shaped structure, which was stabilized by two [Co(HO)] ions. Furthermore, it can be connected into a three-dimensional mesh structure using K ions. Surprisingly, 1 possesses a remarkably high proton conductivity of 1.59 × 10 S cm at 95% RH and 318 K probably due to the fact that its structure contains large amounts of lattice water molecules, coordination water molecules and counter cations.

The phosphorylation reaction, catalyzed by the enzyme protein kinase A (PKA), plays one of the key roles in the work of the glutamatergic system, primarily involved in memory functioning. The analysis of the dynamic behavior of the enzyme-substrate complex allows one to learn the mechanism of the enzymatic reaction. According to the results of classical molecular dynamics calculations followed by hierarchical clustering, the most preferred proton acceptor during the phosphorylation reaction catalyzed by PKA is the carboxyl group of the amino acid residue Asp166; however, the γ-phosphate group of ATP can also act as an acceptor.

Background: Although Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) were mostly prescribed for gastrointestinal (GI) disease widely, there were numerous studies about PPIs and adverse renal outcome. Most evidence was to evaluate the risk of PPIs in patients with normal renal function and in the absence of the moderate to advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study focuses on the accelerated progression of renal function following proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) use, and the increased risks of acute kidney injury (AKI) among moderate to advanced CKD (pre-ESRD) patients.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the association between the 2023 Beers criteria for inappropriate prescribing and different health outcomes among community-dwelling older individuals after a 1-year follow-up period and to assess the use and factors associated with inappropriate prescribing.

Methods: This longitudinal population study spanning from 2017 to 2018 included 490 community-dwelling older adults (≥60 years old) receiving care from family medicine teams in the city of São João del-Rei, Brazil. The 2023 Beers criteria was used to identify potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs).

Tuning the Crowding Effect of Water and Imidazole in Covalent Organic Frameworks for Proton Conduction.

The proton conduction of imidazole under confined conditions has attracted widespread attention from researchers. Under anhydrous conditions, the proton transfer behavior is primarily governed by the molecular dynamics of imidazole. However, within a water-mediated system, the crowding effect of water and imidazole in a confined space may outweigh the intrinsic properties of imidazole itself.

Nano-sized high-entropy materials (HEMs) recently received more attention to researchers due to their superior electrochemical catalytic properties. HEMs comprise at least five elements with or without metals and are synthesized through solid-state reactions and solution-mediated techniques. The presence of many elements in these HEMs result in a high mixing entropy and facilitates the formation of stable solid solutions in fundamental crystal structures.
