Developing an ideal nerve conduit for proper nerve regeneration still faces several challenges. The attempts to fabricate aligned substrates for neuronal growth have enhanced the hope of successful nerve regeneration. In this wok, we have attempted to generate an electrospun matrix with aligned fibers from a silver and graphene oxide-incorporated ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVAL). The presence of silver was analyzed using UV-visible spectra, XPS spectra, and ICP. Raman spectra and FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of GO. The complexation of Ag with - OH of EVAL enabled the generation of aligned fibers. The fiber diameter (>1 μm) provided sufficient space for forming focal adhesion by the neurites and filopodia of N2a and C6 cells, respectively. The fiber diameter enabled the neurites and filopodia of the cells to align on the fibers. The incorporation of GO has contributed to the cell-material interactions. The morphological and mechanical properties of fibers obtained in the study ensure that the EVAL-Ag-GO-0.01 matrix is a potential substrate for developing a nerve guidance conduit/nerve wrap (NGC/W).

Bioprinting has emerged as a powerful manufacturing platform for tissue engineering, enabling the fabrication of 3D living structures by assembling living cells, biological molecules, and biomaterials into these structures. Among various biomaterials, hydrogels have been increasingly used in developing bioinks suitable for 3D bioprinting for diverse human body tissues and organs. In particular, hydrogel blends combining gelatin and gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA; "GG hydrogels") receive significant attention for 3D bioprinting owing to their many advantages, such as excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, intrinsic bioactive groups, and polymer networks that combine the thermoresponsive gelation feature of gelatin and chemically crosslinkable attribute of GelMA.

The current study focuses on investigating the potential of produced graphene oxide (GO)/oil-based polyurethane composite films as a drug carrier for 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Polyurethane was synthesized starting from blends of castor oil and sunflower oil-based glyceride, followed by GO and 5-FU anticancer drug bearing film production by solution casting. GO/PU composite film samples were characterized by FTIR, TGA and SEM analysis, confirming the PU production and distribution of 5-FU drug at a homogeneous level in GO/PU films.

Introduction: To address the challenges related to bone defects, including osteoinductivity deficiency and post-implantation infection risk, this study developed the collagen composite scaffolds (CUR-GO-COL) with multifunctionality by integrating the curcumin-loaded graphene oxide with collagen through a freeze-drying-cross-linking process.
Methods: The morphological and structural characteristics of the composite scaffolds were analyzed, along with their physicochemical properties, including water absorption capacity, water retention rate, porosity, degradation, and curcumin release. To evaluate the biocompatibility, cell viability, proliferation, and adhesion capabilities of the composite scaffolds, as well as their osteogenic and antimicrobial properties, in vitro cell and bacterial assays were conducted.

Although the recent emergence of decoupled water electrolysis prevents typical H/O mixing, the further development of decoupled water electrolysis has been confined by the lack of reliable redox mediator (RM) electrodes to support sustainable H production. As energy storage electrodes, layered double hydroxides (LDHs) possess inherently poor conductivity/stability, which can be improved by growing LDHs on graphene substrates in situ. The proper modification of the graphene surface structure can improve the electron transport and energy storage capacity of composite electrodes, while current methods are usually cumbersome and require high temperatures/chemical reagents.
