Kenya is committed to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) within its devolved health system in which significant investments have been made in health infrastructure, workforce development, and service delivery. Despite these efforts, the country faces considerable health workforce challenges. To address these, the Ministry of Health undertook a comprehensive Health Labour Market Analysis (HLMA) in 2022 to generate evidence supporting the development of responsive health workforce policies.

Specifically improving the intratumoral accumulation and retention and achieving the maximum therapeutic efficacy of small-molecule chemotherapeutics remains a considerable challenge. To address the issue, we here reported near-infrared (NIR) irradiation-activatable targeted covalent nanodrugs by installing diazirine-labeled transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1)-targeted aptamers on PEGylated phospholipid-coated upconversion nanoparticles followed by doxorubicin loading. Targeted covalent nanodrugs recognized and then were activated to covalently cross-link with TfR1 on cancer cells by 980 nm NIR irradiation.

Adult spinal deformity comprises a heterogeneous group of disorders that primarily affects older patients and can have a significant negative affect on health-related quality of life. Operative treatment for adult spinal deformity typically entails posterior instrumented fusions that have demonstrated the potential to significantly improve health-related quality of life outcomes. However, until fusion is achieved, the instrumentation providing structural support is subject to repetitive cyclical loading that disproportionately fatigues high-stress areas and can result in instrumentation failure.

As primary air pollutants from fossil fuel combustion, the excess emission of nitric oxides (NO) results in a series of atmospheric environmental issues. Although the selective catalytic reduction technology has been confirmed to be effective for NO removal, green purification and value-added conversion of NO under ambient conditions are still facing great challenges, especially for nitrogen resource recovery. To address that, photo-/electrocatalysis technology offers sustainable routes for efficient NO purification and upcycling under ambient temperature and pressure, which has received considerable attention from scientific communities.
