Aims: This study compared the hemostatic effects and complications of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) and topical TXA in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), thus providing a reference for the use of ORC as an alternative hemostatic agent to TXA in TKA.
Methods: A total of 105 patients were included in this study and randomized into blank control, ORC, and TXA groups. The primary outcomes were total blood loss, hemoglobin drop (Hb drop), transfusion rates, and incidence of thrombosis.

These changes typically manifest in two phases: hyperfibrinolysis followed by fibrinolysis suppression. Purpose: Tranexamic acid is widely accepted for hip fractures but there is no agreement about dose or application method and the use is still off label for hip fractures. The aim of our study was to find the best application method of tranexamic acid in patients with femoral neck fractures comparing total blood loss, hemoglobin and transfusion rate.
Methods: A retrospective single centre cohort study (level I trauma centre) with 2008 patients treated operatively for a proximal femur fracture between January 2016 and January 2022 was performed.

Background: Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a pharmacological agent used in reducing blood loss during orthopaedic surgeries, including total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Despite its proven efficacy and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines recommending combined topical and intravenous administration, compliance in clinical practice often lags.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate and improve adherence to NICE guidelines for TXA use during TKA through a quality improvement initiative.
