In the emergency department, blunt trauma to the abdomen is frequently seen following a blunt injury. Road traffic accidents are the leading cause of this type of injury. This is a case presentation of a young adult male who presented to the emergency medicine department one week after he had a road traffic accident. After the initial assessment, an ileal perforation with peritonitis was suspected, and the patient was taken up for surgery. Intraoperative findings led to the patient being diagnosed with a case of gangrenous ileum secondary to a complete mesenteric tear. This case report highlights how a high level of suspicion and prompt intervention in a timely manner can play an important role in reducing morbidity and case fatality.

Background: Timely emergency medical services (EMS) are particularly important among trauma patients, as inefficient EMS systems can result in potentially avoidable death before reaching a hospital. The Dhulikhel Hospital Dispatch Center coordinates and monitors a growing network of ambulances, including seven Type B ambulances staffed with a trained prehospital care provider and medical equipment. This study evaluates the prehospital care and outcomes of trauma patients transported by Type B ambulances to Dhulikhel Hospital's Emergency Department, as monitored by the Dispatch Center.

The incidence of blast injuries has been rising globally, particularly affecting the lungs due to their vulnerability. Primary blast lung injury (PBLI) is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, while early diagnostic methods are limited. With advancements in medical technology, and portable handheld ultrasound devices, the efficacy of ultrasound in detecting occult lung injuries early remains unclear.

An organ transplant recipient is a patient with organ failure who will not survive unless he receives a new organ. Although the benefits of organ transplantation are undeniable, there is a significant gap between the number of donors and recipients, as the demand for organs greatly surpasses the available supply.

Road unevenness significantly impacts the safety and comfort of traffic participants, especially vulnerable groups such as cyclists and wheelchair users. To train models for comprehensive road surface assessments, we introduce StreetSurfaceVis, a novel dataset comprising 9,122 street-level images mostly from Germany collected from a crowdsourcing platform and manually annotated by road surface type and quality. By crafting a heterogeneous dataset, we aim to enable robust models that maintain high accuracy across diverse image sources.
