Space Quasi-Periodic Steady Euler Flows Close to the Inviscid Couette Flow.

We prove the existence of steady stream functions, solutions for the Euler equation in a vorticity-stream function formulation in the two dimensional channel . These solutions bifurcate from a prescribed shear equilibrium near the Couette flow, whose profile induces finitely many modes of oscillations in the horizontal direction for the linearized problem. Using a Nash-Moser implicit function iterative scheme, near such equilibrium we construct small amplitude, space reversible stream functions, slightly deforming the linear solutions and retaining the horizontal quasi-periodic structure. These solutions exist for most values of the parameters characterizing the shear equilibrium. As a by-product, the streamlines of the nonlinear flow exhibit Kelvin's cat eye-like trajectories arising from the finitely many stagnation lines of the shear equilibrium.

Attempts to use colloid science concepts to better understand the dynamic properties of concentrated or crowded protein solutions are challenging due to the fact that globular proteins generally have heterogeneous surfaces that result in anisotropic or patchy contributions to their interaction potential. This is particularly difficult when targeting non-equilibrium transitions such as glass and gel formation in concentrated protein solutions. Here we report a systematic study of the reduced zero shear viscosity of the globular protein -crystallin, an eye lens protein that plays a vital role in vision-related phenomena such as cataract formation or presbyopia, and compare the results to the existing structural and dynamic data.

Herein, we developed multifunctional hydrogels formed between soybean protein (SPI)-gallic acid conjugate and oxidized dextran (ODex) via a Schiff base reaction. The effects of ODex on the morphology, structure, and functional properties of the hydrogels were elucidated. The results showed that the crosslinking modes in the hydrogels include hydrogen bonding, Schiff bases, Michael addition, and π-π stacking.

A recrosslinkable CO-resistant branched preformed particle gel (CO-BRPPG) was developed for controlling CO injection conformance, particularly in reservoirs with super-permeable channels. Supramolecular gel can be used to seal fractures and pores in the formation during oil and gas drilling and production. In this study, a supramolecular gel plugging agent based on hydrophobic association was prepared by free radical polymerization of acrylamide, octadecyl methacrylate, sodium dodecyl sulfate and other monomers by micellar copolymerization. The forming time, rheology, swelling, mechanical properties and plugging properties of supramolecular gels were studied.
