Background: Mitosis and cytokinesis are regulated by reversible phosphorylation events controlled by kinases and phosphatases. Drosophila Polo kinase, like its human ortholog PLK1, plays several roles in this process. Multiple mechanisms contribute to regulate Polo/PLK1 activity, localization and interactions.

Incomplete sister centromere decatenation results in centromeric ultrafine anaphase bridges (UFBs). PICH (PLK1-interacting checkpoint helicase), a DNA translocase, plays a crucial role in UFB resolution by recruiting UFB-binding proteins and stimulating topoisomerase IIα. However, the involvement of distinct PICH functions in UFB resolution remains ambiguous.

Background: Peroxisomes are increasingly linked to cancer development, yet the prognostic role of peroxisome-related genes (PRGs) in breast cancer remains unclear.
Objective: This study aimed to construct a prognostic model based on PRG expression in breast cancer to clarify their prognostic value and clinical implications.
Methods: Transcriptomic data from TCGA and GEO were used for training and validation cohorts.

Double-strand breaks (DSBs) are a formidable threat to genome integrity, potentially leading to cancer and various genetic diseases. The prolonged lifespan of mammalian oocytes increases their susceptibility to DNA damage over time. While somatic cells suppress DSB repair during mitosis, oocytes exhibit a remarkable capacity to repair DSBs during meiotic maturation.
