: Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) with F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) is a firmly established tool in oncology and is gaining importance in dermato-oncology. However, its use in advanced basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is limited, with only a few case reports and a single study focused on vismodegib. This study evaluates the role of F-FDG PET/CT in advanced BCC treated with sonidegib. : We retrospectively assessed the clinical data of patients with advanced BCC who underwent F-FDG PET/CT between January 2022 and January 2024. Inclusion criteria included histologically confirmed BCC, FDG-avid lesions on baseline PET/CT, and a minimum follow-up of 6 months. Metabolic response was assessed using the PET Response Criteria in Solid Tumors (PERCIST). : Four patients with advanced BCC treated with sonidegib were included, presenting with a total of 10 hypermetabolic lesions at baseline PET/CT. The mean interval between baseline and follow-up scans was 8.7 ± 1.6 months. According to PERCIST, two patients achieved a complete metabolic response (CMR), while the other two had stable metabolic disease (SMD). Low baseline-standardized uptake values (i.e., SUVmax, SUVmean) and reduced total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were associated with CMR. No relapses were observed during follow-up. : This study suggests that F-FDG PET/CT may help identify advanced BCC patients who are likely to benefit from sonidegib treatment. Further research is needed to fully explore the potential of PET/CT in this specific clinical context.

Studying the properties and phase diagram of iron at high-pressure and high-temperature conditions has relevant implications for Earth's inner structure and dynamics and the temperature of the inner core boundary (ICB) at 330 GPa. Also, a hexagonal-closed packed to body-centered cubic (bcc) phase transition has been predicted by many theoretical works but observed only in a few experiments. The recent coupling of high-power laser with advanced x-ray sources from synchrotrons allows for novel approaches to address these issues.

Background And Objective: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common malignancy of humankind, characterized by its low propensity for metastasis and its high recurrence rate. Surgical intervention is the predominant therapeutic approach. However, for cases of locally advanced BCC (laBCC) and metastatic BCC (mBCC), systematic therapy may be the first option.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most commonly diagnosed cutaneous cancer globally. Chronic exposure to environmental triggers and genetic predisposition are risk factors that contribute to the incidence of BCC. While most cases of BCC are treated surgically with curettage or simple excision, treatment options for advanced BCC, including metastatic BCC and locally advanced BCC, are limited as some may be considered unresectable.

Skin carcinoma, which includes basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma, is influenced by various factors such as genetic predisposition, chemical exposures, immune system imbalances, and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. This review delves into the mechanisms behind the development of these cancers, exploring the therapeutic potential of microbial, plant derived compounds and nanoparticles in advancing skin cancer treatments. Special attention is given to the cytotoxic effects of anti-neoplastic agents from microbial sources on different cancer cell lines, particularly melanoma.

A body-centered cubic (bcc) FeCo(B) is a current standard magnetic material for perpendicular magnetic tunnel junctions (-MTJs) showing both large tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) and high interfacial perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) when MgO is utilized as a barrier material of -MTJs. Since the -MTJ is a key device of current spintronics memory, . spin-transfer-torque magnetoresistive random access memory (STT-MRAM), it attracts attention for further advance to explore new magnetic materials showing both large PMA and TMR.
