Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and patient satisfaction of outpatient partial parotidectomies in a French university hospital, addressing the lack of national data on such procedures amidst a push for increased ambulatory surgeries.
Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted, involving patients undergoing partial parotidectomy for non-malignant tumors from March 2021 to May 2023. Inclusion was based on surgical, medical, and social criteria. A control group was also reviewed for comparison. The study followed a standardized surgical and anesthesia protocol, with patient satisfaction assessment.
Results: From an initial pool of 104, 64 patients passed surgical screening, and 45 remained after anesthesia and social considerations, marking a 70% inclusion rate for outpatient care. The success rate of outpatient procedures stood at 98%, with complication incidences mirroring those of inpatient counterparts. 91% of participants expressed high satisfaction, scoring their experiences 7/10 or above.
Conclusion: Outpatient partial parotidectomies within the French health infrastructure are both viable and align with patient expectations, reinforcing the shift towards ambulatory surgery.

A growing body of evidence suggests that non-optimal ambient temperatures are associated with increased incidence rate and mortality of thromboembolic diseases. We aim to investigate the association between apparent temperature (AT) and coagulation, which is a central pathological link in the formation of thrombi. In this study, we conducted a time series analysis using data from 18,894 participants collected from a health check-up center in Beijing between 2014 and 2023, and validated our findings using 20,549 participants from an andrology outpatient clinic.

Introduction: Ensuring an appropriate length of stay (LOS) is a primary goal for hospitals, as prolonged LOS poses clinical risks and organizational challenges. Children and adolescents are particularly susceptible to prolonged LOS due to frequent hospitalizations and unique vulnerabilities, including developmental disabilities that may necessitate additional care and monitoring. This study aims to describe the LOS of children and adolescent patients and identify the sociodemographic, organizational, clinical, and nursing care factors contributing to prolonged LOS in this population.

Background: Australia has the highest global incidence of keratinocyte cancer. Surgically managing keratinocyte cancers in regional Australia presents geographic and economic challenges, which necessitate cost-effective resource allocation. Previous work has outlined the cost benefit for outpatient day surgical excision of head and neck skin lesions that can be closed primarily.

Purpose: Effective rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery is critical. The early post-operative phase is increasingly managed in outpatient settings, necessitating objective measures such as step counts to monitor rehabilitation progress. However, it remains unclear if commercially available wearables or accelerometers using simple algorithms can accurately count steps in early post-operative conditions.
