Eu isotopes are promising tracers across various scientific domains such as planetary, earth, and marine science, yet their high-precision analysis has been challenging due to the similar geochemical properties of rare earth elements (REEs). In this study, a novel two-column chromatographic approach was developed utilizing AG50W-X12 and TODGA resins to separate Eu effectively from matrix and interfering elements like Ba, Nd, Sm, and Gd, while ensuring high Eu yields (99.4 ± 0.4%, = 19) and low blanks (<20 pg). The robustness of this method is evidenced by various rock types and different Eu loading masses. The efficient purification of Eu facilitated the establishment of a high-precision calibration technique with standard-sample bracketing (SSB) and internal normalization (Nd). When a Nu Plasma 1700 multicollector-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) instrument was employed, repeated purification and analysis of various Geological Reference Materials (GRMs) confirmed that the long-term external precision of δEu is better than 0.04‰ (2 standard deviation (2SD)), which represents a 2-5-fold increase in precision compared to previously reported methods. Additionally, the high-precision Eu isotopic compositions of five GRMs, including basalts, andesite, syenite, and marine sediment, were measured. The high-precision Eu isotope techniques presented herein open up new avenues for Eu isotope geochemistry.

Terbinafine hydrochloride (TBF) is a broad-spectrum antifungal used to treat various dermatophyte infections affecting the skin, hair, and nails. Accurate, sensitive, and affordable analytical methods are crucial for quantifying this drug. In this study, we report on the use of carbon-based electrodes for the electrochemical determination of TBF in pharmaceutical samples, including raw materials and tablets.

Platforms have long been implemented for downstream process development of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) to streamline development and reduce timelines. These platforms are also increasingly being used for other complex biologics modalities. While development has traditionally been conducted at the lab bench scale in a sequential manner, automated miniaturized and parallelized approaches like RoboColumns and resin plates have also been implemented for chromatographic screening.

Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is a fast and simple sample preparation technique that enables the enrichment of analytes, and it is used in combination with other detection techniques to provide accurate and sensitive analytical methods. SPME is widely used in environmental monitoring, food safety, life analysis, biomedicine, and other applications. The extractive coating is the core of the SPME technique, and the properties of the extractive coating greatly influence extraction selectivity and efficiency, as well as the enrichment effect.

The growing abuse of fentanyl and its analogues (FTNs) presents a substantial public health threat, prompting the introduction of regulatory controls by government authorities. Nevertheless, existing screening strategies for FTNs are primarily based on targeted or non-targeted approaches that utilize a limited set of mass spectrometry fragmentation data, which are far from meeting the needs of class scheduling. In this study, a comprehensive non-targeted screening strategy for FTNs was developed.

Background: Developing analytical methods for Traditional Medicine products by liquid chromatography is challenging due to their chemical complexity and the lack of analytical standards for numerous, unidentified constituents. Regulatory agencies recommend chromatographic fingerprint analysis for quality evaluation, relying on peak detection to ensure resolution. Conventional modelling struggles to optimise experimental conditions for such complex samples.
