Background: The netrin-1/CD146 pathway regulates colorectal cancer (CRC) liver metastasis, angiogenesis, and vascular development. However, few investigations have yet examined the biological function of netrin-1/CD146 complex in CRC. In this work, we investigated the relationship between the netrin-1/CD146 axis and S100 proteins in sentinel lymph node, and revealed a possible new clue for vascular metastasis of CRC.
Methods: The expression levels of netrin-1 and CD146 proteins in CRC, as well as S100A8 and S100A9 proteins in the sentinel lymph nodes were determined by immunohistochemistry. Using GEPIA and UALCAN, we analyzed netrin-1 and CD146 gene expression in CRC, their association with CRC stage, and their expression levels and prognosis in CRC patients.
Results: The expression level of netrin-1 in N (CRC lymphatic metastasis groups, exculded N) was positively increased with N (p = 0.012). The level of netrin-1 protein was positively correlated with CD146 protein (p < 0.05). The level of S100A9 protein was positively correlated with CD146 protein (r = 0.492, p = 0.007). Moreover, netrin-1 expression was obviously correlated with S100A9 expression in the N stage (r = 0.867, p = 0.000). CD146 level was correlated with S100A9 level in the N stage (r = 0.731, p = 0.039). CD146 mRNA expression was higher in normal colorectal tissues than in CRC (p < 0.05). Netrin-1 and CD146 expression were not significantly associated with the tumor stages and prognosis of patients with CRC (p > 0.05).
Conclusions: The netrin-1/CD146 and netrin-1/S100A9 axis in CRC tissues might related with early stage of lymph node metastasis, thus providing potential novel channels for blocking lymphatic metastasis and guiding biomarker discovery in CRC patients.

The intestinal microbiota influences many host biological processes, including metabolism, intestinal barrier functions, and immune responses in the gut and distant organs. Alterations in its composition have been associated with the development of inflammatory disorders and cardiovascular diseases, including Kawasaki disease (KD). KD is an acute pediatric vasculitis of unknown etiology and the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in the United States.

Mature aggressive B-cell lymphomas, such as Burkitt lymphoma (BL) and Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), show variations in microRNA (miRNA) expression. The entity of High-grade B-cell lymphoma with 11q aberration (HGBCL-11q) shares several biological features with both BL and DLBCL but data on its miRNA expression profile are yet scarce. Hence, this study aims to analyze the potential differences in miRNA expression of HGBCL-11q compared to BL and DLBCL.

Background: Supraglottic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a significant portion of head and neck cancers, with the management of clinically negative necks (cN0) through selective neck dissection (SND) being debated due to potential morbidities and low metastasis rates in levels IIb and IV.
Methods: This study is a retrospective, multicenter examination of the potential feasibility of limited neck dissection (LND), including only levels IIa and III in cN0 supraglottic SCC patients. It analyzed occult metastasis rates and explored relapse occurrences alongside potential predictors of lymph node metastasis.

Aim: Vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) accelerates growth factor secretion, lymphatic endothelial cell migration toward the interstitial flow and lymphagiogenesis in a multidirectional pattern. Our observational study aimed to examine the hypothesis that nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds (NCS) combined with VLNT can provide guided lymphagiogenesis creating long-lasting lymphatic pathways.
Methods: Twenty-four patients (21 female, 3 male) underwent a lymphatic microsurgery for upper ( = 11) or lower ( = 13) limb secondary lymphedema and completed at least 18 months follow-up were selected and equally divided in 2 groups; Group-A underwent VLNT, Group-B underwent combined VLNT and NCS procedure.

Backgrounds: Collagen type I alpha 1 chain (COL1A1) is a key protein encoding fibrillar collagen, playing a crucial role in the tumor microenvironment (TME) due to its complex functions and close association with tumor invasiveness. This has made COL1A1 a focal point in cancer biology research. However, studies investigating the relationship between COL1A1 expression levels and clinical characteristics of ovarian cancer (OC) remain limited.
